Yes, I agree the worst olympic coverage ever...
Repeats, repeats and more repeats, showing the same sports over and over again, no varieties at all etc..
Too many breaks/ads at the wrong time and was there any commentaries during the Opening Ceremony??? cause I didnt hear any...
It was a complete a waste of time having to wait for 5 hrs for a sport to come up...and by that time, it's not live anymore....
We should really complain to Channel 7. |

i totally agree...
this was absolutely 'THE' worst coverage one could possibly imagine... channel 7 and their supposed 'official commentators' have totally stuffed this olympics for the viewers at home with their none too intelligent comments, innuendos and tlack of knowledge of the sport/s they were commentating on... replay after replay... and especially their discriminatory view of what they decided we wanted to see...
i was under the impression the olpymic coverage would be LIVE...
also, what happened at the closing ceremony??? try as i might i could NOT see our 'wonder girl' who was bestowed with the honor of carrying the aussie flag anywhere... i would have throught that having done such a wonderful job abd being 7's 'home girl' she (and our flag) would have commanded some sort of acknowledgement... many other countries were given much attention... nor did i see much (any??) footage of our olympic team coming in to the arean to join the ceremony... oh! i did catch a fleeting glimpse of lauren jackson... where were the others?? maybe i missed it however just in case i watched the replay today (monday)... seemed there were a few comments about step rice which i missed (??) at the actual closing ceremony...
disgusted with this coverage and the ridiculous spin on 'yum cha'... actually found this quite offensive...
bring back roy and hg... get rid of this kockie, smel, bratwurst, goanna griggs and that stupid sister of freddie krugers’ – sonja… total dipstick of the highest order...
i also thought it would have been really 'polite' to have captions at the opening ceremony where language / hearing barriers would prevent some viewers (me :-) from getting a full understanding of the opening in context...
it was gratifying to see just how wonderful it was that the Olympics bought all the countries in the world together in harmony… that is until 7 mangled the coverage and played ‘dirty’…
abysmal... infantile... an left feeli ... |

Pi$$ poor coverage Channel 7, how many fricken times do you need to interupt whatever event if on to show repeats again and again and again, not wait lets do it in super slow motion this time and here it is in slightly faster slow motion, now lets show at normal speed.
Oh and the AFL coverage, for *** s sake the olympics only happens once every 4 years and goes for two weeks can't you give the football a miss or show it as a delayed telecast.
You've teamed up with Yahoo now, why don't you get some of the events up on the web, the BBC manage to do it, why can't you? Most people want to see particular events, at best a couple of minutes coverage before we're bombarded with another replay of whichever highlight event happened in the last couple of days. Look at any forums, cycling, mountain biking, running, judo, diving, everyone is complaining about the same thing.
Hope whoever ends up with the 2012 olympics does a better job |

I boycotted the Olympics this year, however it's difficult to not see parts when the people you're with are watching it. The only thing I saw properly was the diving & the Closing Ceremony. And I have to say, the commentators were one of the most biased bunch I've ever heard. Every time Australia made a dive it was "superb" and they "nailed it", yet even I could see (and I'm certainly no diving expert) that the dive was far from well executed. Yet when someone from another country dived excellently, all the commentators could say was "good dive".
And don't even get me started on the Closing Ceremony. The woman commentating that had pissed me off throughout the entire 2 weeks of coverage, because she is UTTERLY CLUELESS and sounds like an idiot. Where were the professionals who had real knowledge about the sports? As for the male commentator at the Closing Ceremony-- at one point when the silver & red men were creating patterns on the tower in the middle of the stadium he said something like, "And you can see that they're using symbolism here, they are showing......." and trailed off. Why? Because he had NO IDEA what they were trying to symbolise; he was just making it up as he went. And then the men ran up the tower and the commentator said - can you believe it - "These are very fit men."
WHAT?!?! Really? I hadn't noticed. Channel 7 treated us like idiots. Terrible, channel 7. |

This has been my first olympics watched in Australia. I am appaled at the poor coverage and lack of knowledge of the announcers at each event. Would someone tell them (next time) that it's ok to say every 10 mins. or so, just what we are viewing? ie: "This is the gold medal game between whoever & whoever." Your audience isn't static. It changes radically every few minutes. You have to explain what's happening to the constantly new viewers. I can't wait to get sattelite tv so I can thumb my nose at this dismal "free tv" coverage! Repeats taking up most of the weekend coverage is almost criminal. Heads ought to roll over the poor decision making of staff at ch 7!

| we saw Lleyton Hewitt play Rafael Nadal live..for about 1 minute..They advertised it for ages, then showed 1 minute , then "we'll be back in a minute"..then 40 minutes later we saw the last point of the match. This is a typical example of CHANNEL 7's pathetic broadcasting. |

You've got my vote! Definitely the worst coverage of an Olympic games I have ever seen.
Viewers had little idea of when the events they were interested in were to be shown. Rarely did we see our Australian athletes competing "live"
The most exciting Olympic experience I had was last night watching the Men's Diving final scores unfold on my computer screen...watching them click over as each competitor went through the 6 rounds of dives. Calling out to my husband from time to time.."is the diving on yet?" Matthew Mitcham won the Gold and finally someone at Channel 7 wakes up and decides to show us the last round of dives!
It's a disgrace!
Congratulations to Channel 9 for securing the rights to London 2012 |

I have driven my family mad with my rants on how pathetic the coverage has been this Olympics. I never thought it could be worse than Athens, and in 04 I said the same about Sydney, but 7 has proven me wrong yet again!
Why on earth would you show a bit of this then a bit of that of events that Australians are in yet they show all of other events that there are no Australians in. In fact it really doesn’t matter to me if there is an Aussie in an event or not but just show the bloody thing without all the interruptions. Also, why do they only show a couple of hours of new content every day?
Why do we have to suffer Today Tonight and the like????? I don’t care about silly one-eye’d reporting when we should be coming together as a planet and watching some good Olympic sport NOT THE STUPID AFL!!! (even though I do follow the Hawks) But you won the right to show the Olympics so you have a civic right to do so. |

its hardly worth complaining, because its over now. i just had to laugh every time the idiots threw an ad break in at the worst times, and when they topped it off to go to the news, i knew someone was playing a very very bad joke on us all. i should have known when we missed the entire 1st qtr of the Aus vs USA game because of SOFTBALL!!!!! for gods sake. just show us the delayed 10min, and let us see it from the start. it's not like all your coverage was live anyways!!! if you go to 10min of ads, press pause, then let us go back to the same position in the game!! how effective would that advertising be anyway?? all viewers would have been angry and flicking to SBS to pray and hope that they were actually showing the game without ads!! sadly not :(
I live in Vic, so ch 7 didnt show the first half of the Gold medal game because of an AFL blow out game, so i had to resort to watching it on my Mobile thanks to Bigpond. i have a 42 inch plasma, but i have to watch it on my mobile, what the hell?!?!?
this rant has helped get it off my chest, but it doesnt fix the fact that the entire coverage was a sham! |

| who's idea was it to cut to the "news" at 6pm during the last quarter of the basketball final? how ridiculous for seven to think that i care about the fact that the aussie team is taking a chartered flight home or medalists get business class flights or wait... here's an update an aussie won gold in the diving, maybe you can cut away from another live event to replay that for the 20th time. For once the basketball was actually close. I hate 7. |

| I won't ever complain about channel 9's coverage of the NRL again after watching these Olympics. Let's hope they have learnt from channel 7's mistakes and we actually get to watch the 2012 Olympics. We really don't want to watch every personality (???) that has ever been on channel 7 pretend they know something about sport in a studio. |

| Thank God Channel 7 haven't got the Games in 2012. The coverage was shocking - I simply can't understand many of the decisions that were made regarding what events to broadcast. Why on earth did they play replays of the previous night's events during the men's marathon? Why were viewers told time and time again that certain events 'were yet to come' when they had already been completed? Ch 7, you treated your viewers with absolutely no respect and I am extremely happy to see the next Games are with Channel 9 who have proved numerous times that they know how to cover major sporting events. What an absolutely abysmal job. Stick to mindless soap operas for pre-teens please. |

| I believe that Channel 7 should be banned from showing any major sporting event in the future. This afternoon they felt it was more important to show the men's bronze medal basketball match than the women's group rhythmic gymnastics final. Neither of which contained an Australian team. Following that they decided to replay the men's 10m platform diving final from this morning where an Australian won gold instead of a gold medal men's volleyball match that was available on SBS. However SBS isn't available to all homes. I believe that if channel 7 is going to be in charge of what we see of the games they should be making more executive decisions about they play and replay. They need to recognise thier viewers want to see a variety of sports, gold medal matches, as well as well played matches (not one sided games, like the bronze medal men's basketball match from today). Shame on you channel 7. |
