Hi I used to live in Bunbury but now reside in Mackay, Qld
Weather here is different to WA, the humity is more, but the people are more friendly and there is plenty of work especially if you have anything to do with the mining industry - |

| hi guys. lets say good move coming back to queensland. it's the only state to live. i'm in caboolture. which is half way to brisbane and the sunny coast, and 20 min to bribie island. my home is for sale if anyone interested. it needs painting, i have just had a extention done, which was approved in november 2007. i had a new kitchen put in 2 yrs ago, and floor coverings will need to be done. the best part is a 6 foot fence all round with two road frontage....so it safe for any little one's..... |

We moved to Perth from Sunshine Coast Queensland 2 years ago due to an offer of employment here in Perth which was a great opporunity as we had wanted to experience living in W A. Perth is a beautiful city and although it offers a multitude of employment opportunities there just seems to be something lacking and that could have something to do with its isolation from the rest of the country.
We have enjoyed our time in Perth and the opportunity to spend time with family we had not seen for many years but are moving back to the Sunshine Coast in May, maybe we have been spoilt by the lifestyle in Queensland but W.A. certainly doesn't compare in terms of lifestyle that the eastern states do.
The Sunshine Coast from Noosa to Caboolture is a beautiful area and the coastal area of Caloundra is not overcrowded, overpopulated and a lot quieter than other more busier areas but still close to everything. The Sunshine Coast has beautiful hinterland and rural areas all within half an hour of the coast and is only an hour from Brisbane and 2 hours from the Gold Coast.
Hervey Bay as one of the other writers has suggested is a nice place too, however having lived there for 13 years previously found that employment is an issue and a lot of families find that once their children complete high school they have to then move to either the Sunshine Coast or Brisbane to either further their studies or find career employment or general employment. Hervey Bay has a very transient population unless you are retired and looking for somewhere that is beautiful, reasonably quiet to live out your retirement. Queensland is a great state and has a lot to offer everyone from all walks of life, the weather is great all year round, no freezing cold winters like that of W A. You can lay on the beach and get a suntan in Winter. The people are very outgoing and friendly and the cost of living is cheaper than W A. I'd say research many different places in Queensland. |

hi justcarilage i would give nerang a wide berth, to me it's not a nice place to live i was born and bred on the gold coast, i now live country and will always stay country now, but family still lives there {goldcoast} nerang years ago was a sleepy place but now it's much part of the gold coast with crime very high.
but i guess it's up to you, what works for others may not work for you. me iam so glad to be out of the goldcoast after ringing my family at least 1 every 2 weeks to see what's going on down there and when i get off the phone i say to my wife "thank god we live here" and i have 3 daughters and fine the country life is better for them.
my sister has a 16 year old daughter who gets invited to parties that when she gets there they find it's a demo party to kick holes in some rented place that the renters are getting kick out of because they wont pay rent.
some of the stories my sister is telling me what her daughter is telling her i say forget goldcoast go more north or west but you say you don't want sleepy towns anymore!!!!
good luck with what ever you go for |

Hi, Nerang can be still quite busy. I'm in Hervey Bay - probably a bit to far away for you, but it amazes me how many people are moving from gold coast.sunshine coast to live up here, they are finding both areas are becoming a real rat race - more like major cities. I moved from Melbourne to Hervey Bay and have found the adjustment difficult but after 8 months have come to enjoy the laid back lifestyle and the kids are in their element.
I wish you luck with your venture. |

Hi,
We're looking at doing a similar move. We're currently in Perth and the whole family looking to move somewhere in SE QLD. We're thinking somewhere around the Nerang area. Out of the mainstream, but not too far away either. We're partly tired of the sleepy Perth lifestyle. After visiting the Gold Coast it just seems like there is never anything worthwhile to do in Perth. At the same time we like a partly ruralish lifestyle.
Anyone have any other areas that they would recommend? |

it's time to head home,we are going from Dampier In the Pilbara of WA (Iron ore Central) to the sleepy town of Helidon in QLD. For a job in Brissy, 20 acres and the outlaws. it's only been 9 years but it's time to move back closer to the rellies. 6 weeks to go. Work , school ,kids, cars, houses, packing ,I'll be a white haired as John howard by time this is over.
Life is sweet. |
