Nice work tejayes!! You've got to a bit of effort to work this out. I think you might have something there too.
Looking at that list and the pairings I found it fascinating that (of those I can remember) the ones who got through would still be my picks from each bracket/pairing. (eg Mark over James, Jal over Kobe, David Splatt etc) but there might have been a couple of other deserving acts who got further into the series on this system (eg JP, Red Jane, Phoenix).
WHY weren't they on the GF as special guests anyway? I really could have done without the puppet guy (Tom's pick - what is the matter with that man?) and while I liked the other guest acts - would much preferred to have seen one or more of the above 3 do an encore.
Oh and the Queen mob - what were they called??? WOuldn't have minded another performance from them. Where are they on your list? Am I just not seeing them?? |

I'm a fan of the Got Talent series, but it's definitely not without its problems. Too few performances to determine a winner, too many grand finalists, the unfortunate bias towards singers, etc. Ever since the second season of the American version (where I'm from), I've been hypothesizing what would happen if the series took on a tournament-style format.
Here's how it'd work: the semifinals are paired up by how similar the acts are. This ensures a greater variety in later rounds. There would be multiple matchups each episode, but only the votes within battles count. In the case of a Top 40, the matchups would continue until Top 5, where it becomes a free-for-all for two final spots. Those two each get an hour-long special.
I'll match up this season's possible matchups in the next post, since I'm running out of room here. |
