| have to agree with pheonixmagic regarding "making a living". Many very talented performers (be they musicians, singers, comedians etc) are forced to work a "real job" as well as perform their art as the Australian public (and our Government) is not very good at supporting local talent. There is another thread about this already, but essentially people will pay a lot of money to see "third rate" international acts but refuse to pay as little as a $5 door covercharge to see "first rate" local acts that blow the internationals off the stage. Thus we have the huge talent drain to overseas for both financial reward and recognition. |

| .. as we did, have plans to take their act and make it bigger & better. I hope Im not out of line, we loved our chance to perform & were honoured when asked to perform in the GF episode, but we wanted to save it for next year should we be lucky enough to have the chance. We already know what we are doing, exerpts from our other shows, comedy magic. I just want to say thanku to all of u who voted, all of you who watched, & most of all, all of you who left nice comments, you guys mean more than you know. This isnt the end, you will see more & I cant wait to meet you all after shows... Peace ;) |

I work as a magician, yes, but I also have 2 other jobs supporting this love, I work on it as I am not there completely as yet... and until it can pay my way completely why should it matter? I still work professionally in my field. How about this? My full show isnt finished, but it will take another $50k to complete the full production- not to mention the still owing $30k that I am paying off working 3 jobs... both in emergency services & another field as well as magic. Most performers start work in their field at a lower grade, so you think that it's fair to cut out these people who are publically unknown because they have taken their art & attempted to begin creating their persona because of it? I hear what you are saying with solo singers &/or solo dancers, who have other shows to do, or may not be able to hold a complete show, but for us, a talent quest show such as this is our only medium.. Australia, as wonderful a country as it is, is not the best growing ground for performers.. which is a shame as we have incredible talent here. Speaking from a personal perspective, I worked on the Wolverine Movie & trained one of the main characters & was consultant for anything to do with card work.. I perform onboard cruise ships as Cameo Rascale do... but in this country the same skills that gain me those fantastic performing spots, dont book enough shows to pay the bills as they do in other countries. The show is not called Australia's Got RAW talent... it's a competition to find the most entertaining. For us it was our chance to continue funding our show & bring a truely amazing illusion show to Australia & represent Aus to the world in a big way, to allow us to stay together doing what we do, to help my father is hospital, and to give a huge chunk to charity. | I agree with you. It's so annoying how people vote little children through just cause they cute or whatever. then they realize when it gets down to the finalists that they aren't that good. I feel sorry for the children. If i was their parent i wouldn't be allowing them to take part in something so critical. | Why are there so many people out there so against the kids peforming. I think it was great to see so many younger kids showing off their talents this year. It is great opportunity for "Everybody" to show what they can do, it works in Great Britain so why can't it work here. Just my opinion. |

| I'm with you on the first one - I'm so OVER cute precocious kiddie acts (BUT I hasten to add I thought Jal was VERY good and one of the least pretentious kids I've seen on these sorts of shows). Not sure about the second one - might be difficult to define "professional" - I'd hate to miss out on someone like David Splatt, JP or Phoenix because of a rule like that. There's a problem with the 3rd point (possibly more than one) and that's about time zones - a large percentage of Australia would be excluded from participating. I'm not sure what the point of that rule would be anyway. And I thought we were given a wonderful variety of performers this year - not just singers and dancers - but it was sadly predictable that only the singers would make it to the very end. |

| Re:Grand Final Reply to this message I agree - no doubt the most talented all round grand final lineup so far. However I said it last year and I say it again, I believe that there should be a lower age limit to AGT; e.g. 16 years, as I believe there is too much scope for kids to change dramatically over their teenage years - what maybe sounds brilliant at 12/13/14 cud be awful by 17/18/19. Interesting that many of the finalists appear to be "professionals" travelling the clubs/cruise ships etc. circuit(according to info on websites etc), and while there is nothing wrong with that I was of the impression that the show was primarily for new talent. The other point that I wud like to make is that based on the high standard of the semi finals and final surely it is time for the TV stations to consider bringing back entertainment shows, e.g. like "Hey, Hey it's Saturday" because there is surely enough talent round to fill such shows. Just my thoughts. |

| They need to make some changes I feel to the show. For starters: 1. No kid acts allowed unless part of a larger act (minimum age 15 for a solo act of dancing or singing). 2. No persons already in a professional manner (circus acts, jugglers, singers, dancers). Anyone already making a living from their talent should be void from the competition. 3. Why can't we have live voting? Voting opens at the start of the show, everyone performs, and then there is a 30 minute window where there are recaps, finishing with the results being tallied and a winner being announced? With singers and dancers and that's about it, Australia's Got Talent is going to be about as useful as a Miss <name country here> pageant unless vast changes are made. Come on people, you all watch it here too, what do you think? |
