When you rant, people disregard your argument, because all it does is advertise a single digit IQ!

Mr. j_59. That's the biggest con in the world. White races arguing that someone was here before the indigenous people of Australia. This line of shyte has been used in other countries as well.

It's a strategy that white races use to justify their raping and destruction of another culture. Your argument is one of the continually perpetuated fabrications used by white races.

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
Hey Pamela, the Aboriginal people cannot do what you're asking them to do because of the total devastation caused to them by the white society of Australia. White Australia took everything positive about their culture, from them and gave them the negative shyte like alcohol, tobacco and modern civilisation. After doing that, you ask when are they going to get off their backsides and do something for themselves? That takes the cake that does!

Perhaps if a powerful force came and took everything from you and your country, and plied you with the fire water which helped take all the pain of loss away, you just may have some understanding of what the indigenous people of Australia have experienced.

You don't trounce a people, destroy what is valuable to them, which incidently is different to what is valuable to you, and then say "come on black fella, live like me". How many decades of living is it going to take white Australia to understand that even today, for many cultures in this world, money and materialism is not God.

Wake up white Australia - if only it could be that easy as to say - pull up your socks, get sober!

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
There is no "stolen generation", this has been proven. I am white and I had my son taken from me when I was 16 years old, I now have contact with him and my little grand daughter, but I don't whine about it to everyone, I'm grateful someone who loved him gave him a chance I couldn't. I love him and he loves me, as there were NO government handouts back then, I couldn't care for him, and have grieved for my loss at not watching him grow up, but I had no say either, as family and government rules were clear, I couldn't have him. Get over it, be grateful these children were given a chance, and stop glossing over the true facts, their parents couldn't care for them, people offered them a home, that was the times. Move on.

It's the biggest con in Oz. Facts are the original inhabitants were Papuans who walked over when there was still a land bridge. About 6000 years the Abos came in boats from India and slaughtered all the Papuans. They did not kill the Tassie Abos. That is why the Tassie abos look different. They are Papuans. There are still Dravidian tribes in India who look exactly the same as the Oz Abo, they even have the same dog. 40,000 years my bottom. The whole thing is a continually perpetuated fabrication.

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
Sue, I thoroughly agree. I am not an indigenous Australian but when I heard Red speak I was dumbfounded and embarrassed. Firstly, a performer's cultural background should not influence the judges decision either way and it was totally inappropriate to say "sorry" so dismissively and to infer that getting the chap through to the next round would somehow make up for the injustices brought upon his people (I assume he is indigenous?). Sure Red is a comedian known for his heartlessness and lack of tact but I actually thought he was an intelligent person with the insight to know where to draw the line... clearly not. As a middle class white chick I haven't ever been exposed to racism but I guess I have to put up with being lumped in with idiots like Red because of my cultural heritage ... I certainly don't share his sentiments and hopefully there are more people like me than him ... unfortunately those who tend to be heard are the ones who have the least intelligent things to say.

Hey Shilailli, the government could give the Aboriginal people millions of dollars tomorrow, but I guarantee you that out on the missions the adults will be drunk by 9am, the kids will be running around bare footed with snot running down their face, and the whole place will be littered with all the items bought for them by the government.
I am all for helping the Aboriginal people to a respectful and meaningful place in modern society, but WHEN are the Aboriginals going to get off their backsides and start doing something for themselves. Compensation will not bring one ounce of pleasure, it won't make any indiginous person able to hold their head up in pride, but standing up, and doing something positive with their life will.

One more thing: if anyone is honestly suddenly upset or surprised by one of Red's comments, they have obviously never seen him work before and have no idea of his "TV persona" on shows like this...

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
My late sister in law had four children taken from her as she had a few problems in her life, and she couldn't get them back or have much contact with them. She ended up dying in a jail cell from a massive asthma attack. Was there a huge public enquiry, a deaths in custody commission? Was there a "sorry" said to her for taking her children? No...because she was white...

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
Now that is what I would describe as an extremely racist comment.

Once upon a time there were two imaginary races, the zooms and the zaks. The zooms took a fancy to the place the zaks were living and decided to take it off them. The zaks tried to defend themselves but were either outnumbered or outgunned so had to slink off to the deserts to live in abject poverty and deprivation. Then they started to blame each other for their misfortune, they took it out on the weaker ones first, the children, the elderly and the females, then they started killing one another. The zooms meanwhile from their stronger vantage point, thought it was a quick way to get rid of the desert scum who wouldn't disappear completely and kept reminding them of their original sin, and they were also wary of an intelligent underclass of Zaks who had begun to intermarry and educate themselves about their human rights. Soon the Zooms were finding themselves apologising and feeling bad about what they had done to the Zaks so they tried to help them by giving them welfare. But the Zaks who were still living in the desert could not escape and were continually an eyesore for the Zooms who were paying huge amounts of money to keep them in prisons where they would end up after killing on of their own people.
So what happens next Zooms?

And the poms have? Still basking in past glories e.g. WWII, World Cup 66, and haven't evolved or progressed much since then. Leave the aborigines alone, at least they have style.

Marltron91 whose cause do you think you are helping?

Its been said before, but we are all Australians and that's how we should be treated. Some Australians may have special needs or require specific help because of their personal situation. And it should be given on that basis - not because they are aboriginal, white, christian, muslim, or whatever.

The past is dead. Forget the past and embrace the future. A future in which all Australians can progress based on their own personal determination. and by taking individual responsibility for their own lives.

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
tell me something why is it just that the aboriginal community are getting upset about racism when i a true blue aussie walked into an asian shop in an asian suburb of sydney & i wasnt even looked at or answered when i asled a question. i felt offended in MY own country. & its true we came to your shores but i have accepted you. time for you to accept us & stop whining about bygone era's. & yes the education you got from being "stolen" has shaped different aboriginals ernie dingo yothu yindi & christine anu come to mind. as the saying goes take the lesson you were taught & learn from it to move on. you should be focusing on teaching the future generations about your traditional past not to show racist remarks to people. everyone here is here to stay. saying sorry wont just make us pack up & leave.

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
Ok, so from someone who comes from an Aboriginal background, whose nanna grew up in the outback etc, and fully embraced her heritage and the pride and pain that goes with ANY cultural history... I think that racism in this day and age is perpetuated by people like you who get finnicky over tiny little comments that were harmless and obviously not meant with any disrespect. Do you ever have an argument with someone you care about, but for kicks decided to hold on after they apologised? No. Because it was done, in the past, amends was made, and the only people you have a grudge against are the people who DID the acts- many years ago. To hold on, is the reason we have injustice now. Aboriginals are actually accepted in society today, but if you keep pushing the notion that you need to be given greater liberties, and that all caucasian people have to be extra apologetic for a crime that was committed by people that today reside in graves... then you are helping to perpetuate racism in a society that just wants to deal and move on.

So, basically, be pride of your culture, don't use it as a way to get your way in arguments by making those around you tiptoe to avoid being attacked with the race card. So, coming from an Aboriginal in Aus, NO. I was not offended, because in recognising my culture I don't spend my time picking fights to inflate problems.

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
On the Anniversary, it was said that the appology has changed nothing. Its hard to change things when you have hundred and thousands of people trying to stop you. Yes child abuse and alcohol and other drugs are still going on. BUT when they tried to stop alcohol and help the abused children what happened. They all kicked up saying oh you cant take my children your abusing our culture. When a white person is abusing a childs trust, the child is taken away to protect them. White people cant stand up and use our heritage to keep our children.

Its two completely different worlds with different rules. If they dont want to help their children, Keep drinking/drugs and abusing the children. Its exactly the same with white poeple. If no one says anything, they cant be helped. How about you just stop abusing children, bashing all the white police officers that are there to keep the peace - so stop abusing alcohol too and it might go a lot smoother.

Red is a clown.

OMG are you joking? Not only was that not meant to be a "racist" statement (at least no more than the normal day to day jokes every race says about every other race, plus their own!) but seriously people, you can't be hurt 200 years on, unless you think you are over 200 years old. NOTHING happened to YOU, just like NOTHING was done by anyone alive today! I'm not saying "get over it", but I am saying "remember" but for petes sake live YOUR life, not the lives of relatives long dead.

Ok a bit about the stolen generation
It was bad, if they lost contact with their family's
& other things.
But some good came out that, some got a really good education which if they were left in their previous situation they wouldn't of had.
Was Ernie Dingo from the stolen gen hes a fantastic example of what the aboriginal people could achieve.

I am not an indigenous Australian but I grew up amongst indigenous people and I have many Aboriginal friends. NONE of them are seeing Red's comments the way you are and many of them are unimpressed when they learn of this thread because you are in fact trivialising the real issues by doing this.

Sue - fortunately, you do NOT think and speak for ALL Australian aboriginal people and it's a bit arrogant to keep writing as though you are somehow their self-appointed spokesperson. Nor is it the case that only an Aboriginal person is capable of understanding whether or not something is racist.

Re:Total racism by RED Reply to this message
I think it's the "once a victim, always a victim" syndrome. It's easy to grow up trading on something to gain attention, position etc. It's a lot harder to shrug it off and decide to move past it and behave very much better.

The absolute truth is that if you want to be treated equally then you have to discard the "poor me" card.

You may get tired of hearing "bad blacks" but did it ever occur to you that we get tired of hearing "bad whites"? I might say the same - try walking in MY shoes for a while.

Neither is worse than the other. Both have their pain. It's time to stop trying to use that to gain advantage.
