I've missed Jolene since she left All Saints too :'(
I watch her on Rush, her change to the show motivated me to watch the show.
If Natalie Gauci was going to host ITT that would be so good since we hardly hear of her today after she won Idol

Paul O'Brien!!!! Really.....????????????? Well, perhaps he could team up with Kate Ritchie and make the show totally unwatchable altogether.

Whilst I think it's also a shame that we don't hear more of the Australian Christmas Carols, many people still like the traditional carols with the true Christmas message - the birth of Christ. I think there's room for both at the Carol services.

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
Whoever organizes these carols by candlelight they seem to be loosing some direction of keeping this for Australia the Australian theme .It is a great shame if these songs by Australians for Australia James & Wheeler aren't included if they are as good as you express to be,

Ok maybe simpler but 1 song completely unknown per series or to see how a song is rear-ranged by each. Kate was brave the re-arranged a song they did was different maybe could make only 1 song rear-ranged per what is it mentor to see what happens.Could be different but I doubt its source couldn't be traced. I didn't mean new songs every show would be something different at least 1 in the series for the year or something , Poor band & singers might have heart failure trying to many ...but would be different...

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
Cathy - James & Wheeler wrote 15 lovely Australian Christmas Carols more than 50 years ago, ie. The North Wind, Three Drovers, etc. yet we still rarely hear them played in shopping centres, although the odd one or two may be sung at a Carol service. I'd far rather hear them than highly inappropriate things like 'Frosty the Snowman', etc.

It would be very difficult for judges and viewers to guage a celebrity's singing ability with an unfamiliar song, as well as the time and effort needed for celebrity, mentor and band to learn new songs each week. Who's going to write all these new songs anyway.

Some celebrities have had a little performing experience but that is irrelevant. The criteria is that 'they are not recognised as singers,' ie. they are non-professional.

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
The CHALLENGE of ITT is for non-singers to get up on stage, overcome their nerves, and learn to sing with an orchestra and other singers, in front of a live audience and a viewing audience of over 1 million.

If that's not a challenge then I don't know what is.

It seems a select few had already experience at this anyway...

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
If singers did not sing "covers" no Operas, no musical theatre, no oratorios, no Lieder, no Christmas Carols etc would ever be performed.

& thats why we get many of the same old thing,
think listening to some of the carols I feel im at a funeral dull & boring be good to jazz some up abit or something.
mix some old with new,Whats wrong with creating at least a few newies
seems its easy to give nothing new ,Talking to people Around me at work they were wondering why Jimmy Barnes & David, Mahalia at least sang a carol but why American songs for the Australian people to the Australian people for our Carols by Candlelight an American cover would have been appropriate for America, they were wondering why wasn't a carol or even an Australian song to relate to Australians
don't see tv often have seen rage from time to time there is some good some ordinary as many other shows & music stations

The chances that some pop-singing "kid" with a garage band will be a musical genius writing a song that will endure the test of time are just about nil.

Who knows, maybe someone will give it a go could it be possible they may listen to many extremely different styles of music.

medialuvo: The article in the Sunday Telegraph said it was being rested for 2009' so not sure where you read that.

Was it in Andrew Mercado's column? as he wasn't very flattering about the show.

extract from the article.

"Seven is wisely giving this format a rest in 2009."

If, Cathy Jones, you want a TV program on which "new" music is performed you could watch Rage on the ABC.

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
In the Sunday telegraph today it said that Grant Denyer and Ericka Heynatz are back for another season of hosting for it takes to. Which is a bummer cause I was really hoping that Jolene would be a host because now that she is going to be on the show Rush next year she will be living in Melbourne. Although if she is on rush for channel 10 i dont think she would be allowed to do it takes to for channel 7 as they are different channels.

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
David could do this show if copying songs of albums, Doing covers albums is what its about its all written sung made for you by the origional artists, you know how to manipulate the songs as you want & record them that way. Where does this show lead to it dosn't show singers singing newly created songs or show they could create a totaly new song would be good to see totaly new songs created & sung on the show,Now that would be interesting? as there is no challeng here.youve always got the known formula give them what they know ,need no skills.

Re:New Host for Next Season Reply to this message
Wikipedia isn't always accurate with its information. Since Grant IS Co-Hosting Carols in the Domain again this year there's still hope for another ITT season - whenever that may be!
