I have a friend who owns a shop in the same suburb Marina lives in. Apparently she is not as nice as she comes across as on TV in person.

Musicman you are right, you have more guts and words than some 4 liners. Some people get on to these chats when they don't know what they're talking about or have any knowledge of anything. Keep up the chat i enjoy reading them and to those of you who have little to say "look and learn" or is it "read and learn".

I actually enjoyed the comments of the other judges more than Marina's, whose were always so sickly sweet.

Re:Amanda Pelman Reply to this message
Amanda Pelman is totally biased and should be booted from the show followed closely by James Valentine and then Ross Wilson!

I feel so sorry for Marina Prior having to put up with these useless people who wouldn't know a good song if it jumped up and bit them!

Please channel 7 give the judging panel an overhaul, god knows it needs one!!

Re:Amanda Pelman Reply to this message
If Amanda was with Dire Straits mangements from 1980 to 1992

Questions

1. How can she be head of Melodian, if Ian 'Molly' Meldrum formed the label in 198o's, his name appears as A&R in Australiasian Music Directory and closed in 1989.

2. Kylie Minogue was with Neigthbour and I double check it on website and references books and says she left the show in 1987 and Ian 'Molly' Meldrum discovered her.

3. Ian 'Molly' Meldrum is spokeman for Kylie Minogue and going by her interview with him. Going by ARIA Awards 2002 speak she acknowledgement to Ian 'Molly' Meldrum and Michael Gudinski.

4. Mushroom 25 Years book it does stated very clearly Michael Gudinski signed her to the label in 1987.

5. Coundown never had dancers only Solid Gold did in early 1980s. I did remember Ian 'Molly' Meldrum did promoted his artists from Melodian label on Countdown.

6. Melodian changed name and Sony Music record company has the listed.

This is much more fun - we can get back on track if Amanda does anything controversial tonight. BTW you were "off track" in this thread earlier as well.

You say Paul can't sing, at least he had guts to sing a song. Russell doesn't show he has music in blood.

I am replying to your comments. Whats missing here is editing button to fix it.

Don't really see the relevance between what you have posted and the fact that Paul can't sing and your inability to hear/acknowledge this. As for your posting might I suggest - slow down, take a breath, type slowly, and click the "preview" button to check that what you have written makes sense before you hit "post reply" and only post once.

At least I have guts not like others who don't do nothing to helpself.

I can tell things about some Australian authors who couldn't read or write until their were in middle 40. Hell even King Henry VIII never wrote until his last wife made him read, write and speak clearly.

I watched a program on the human brain. One doctor was interview on the human brain in reading and writting. He said this "some people speak as they write or they write". Basically he said their nothing wrong with speaking in writing. Let alone younger people do have problem.

Been Epileptic person was hard at my time, I don't have tell you my life story to you or nobody.

Least I written 6 songs with a friend and perform in front of 400 people, that took guts. At least I come 2nd in the song contest.

Re:Amanda Pelman Reply to this message
Seriously, I can't believe anyone would be trying to argue that Paul had more of a challenge than Russell. The performance that Russell attempted was something way beyond the ability of most professional artists. Only those who know their stuff backwards and have experience of this kind of jazz/swing are able to do this well. Kate is experienced at it. Russell is NOT.

No he wasn't great at it - but there was no way he could be. But he was okay. The fact that he did as well as he did is an amazing feat on his part and a testament to his talent and how far he has developed.

Personally, I think Kate went a little too far getting him to do something that complex and intricate but I hope the audience understands what an incredible job he did in the circumstances.

But you cannot compare that performance with anything Paul did, or anyone else did for that matter because it's so far out to left field.

PS Andie - I agree about jade. There's something about her vocals that sounds odd and does seem to throw others off. I've actually noticed it sometimes in the group performances when she sings with the other professional girls.

Re:Amanda Pelman Reply to this message
Musicman guise 84 only supports half of your point...i agree that the amount of lyrics is an important factor!! Im ONE song this season (u appartently only watched last week) Russell sang a little less than he usually does, that was because he needed to get into a rhythm, to tackle the pitch and timing changes so Kate "interrupted" to help guide him...So really guise84's comments support both of us...

Re:Amanda Pelman Reply to this message
we’re watching a reality TV show with non-professional singers..so that argument is silly.

”what counts how many lines he can sing without Kate help. What counts is how well you sing the song and if you sing in confident and you mean it, then you get high points.” You just agreed with me!!! Just in worse English, Its how well you perform the song, accurately and with confidence! More lyrics helps but it is not the defining factor! Ur comparing Russell and Paul, honestly I’d prefer if Paul didn’t’ sing any lyrics

And Jimmy Barnes is obviously taken on another show…the producers took who they could get, they took Amanda. Yes she needs to be more polite, but her scores are fair.

Re:Amanda Pelman Reply to this message
MusicMan: Firstly I doubt i will understand ur English…

How would I feel from inside? Ok if you’re going to put in a hypothetical situation atleast frame it on the ACTUAL happenings of the show…Russell sang more than three lines, there are HEAPS of lyrics in can’t buy me love, AND its difficult, as a ‘rock band advisor’ u probably know little about swing so you wouldn’t appreciate the difficulty of it. Russell did not sing off key more than a couple times and that can be forgiven because it’s a difficult song with about 5 key changes (which im sure ur trained ears noticed) SO if someone else was to pick a song that had NO key changes, had no timing changes and therefore no other challenge than to perform infront of a live audience in tune AND (I note that this would be no easy feat) they couldn’t do that! Then I would “feel from inside” disheartened.

There is no way Paul should score more unless, Russell sang half the lyrics and only attempted the easy parts of the song. BUT Russell did sing more than ur crediting him for and sang in tune for more of the song than Paul did. It’s unfortunate but it’s the truth.

Amanda can be too negative and annoying, BUT her scores last week were justified.

This is the Australian version….not European…they don’t have to be the same, different cultures, different audiences….ie. different show!

Not everyone wants to watch the contestants on a show talking back to the judges…it’s a live show, limited time so if everyone had a chance to massively question the judges what is the point of having judges?? And they would probably run over schedule…It works in Europe…the audience likes it…Australian producers obviously disliked the concept so its not here, so whatever!

Why are you bagging out Russell for being nervous??? Paul looked like he was going to cry almost every week!! And we’re not paying to watch a performance of a professional musician, we’re watching a reality ...

I have always found Jade's celebs have sung off-key once she starts singing with them. She seems to put them off, whether they are trying to remember the notes they should sing and not the high notes she sings.
