Why did Channel 7 bother to get the rights to broadcast the Beijing Olympics?
They have largely failed to do so in any form that most of us would want to watch, after the first week of suffering the endless station promos, puff pieces and ads interrupted by some fleeting moments of sporting action i have given up...... their coverage is so bad as to be unwatchable...... (Channel 7 should refund the fees paid by advertisers during the Olympics as all of us who have turned the tv off are not seeing them!)
The Australian public and especially the athletes deserve much better! |

I agree with all posts. Here is hoping that 7 do not get the games again!!!! as for Yum cha....more like Yuk oh!!!
for those that are missing the brilliant Roy and HG you can find them doing their olympic thing on podcast at triple J website http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/thissportinglife/
How ludicrous of 7 to not include Roy and HG in their olympics line up...in my opinion.
I have hardly watched any of the olympics coverage in the last couple of days apart from grant hacketts swim as it is just too ordinary. Much rather listen to roy and HG and flick to SBS coverage. I understand that its a mammoth task to cover the games but if you aren't qualified to do it right then leave it to the pros to cover. channel 7 has no logie vote from me for the coverage. |

| Yes, words cannot describe how pathetic is the Olympic coverage by 7. Yum Cha is embarassingly lame and juvenile. The failure to advise what times events will be broadcast is infuriating with bits and pieces been shown all over the place. Worst of all is having to watch countless replays of a past event instead of watching current events. Having commenced watching the Lithuania v Boomers basketball game I discover the final result posted on the Internet when the broadcast was only at half time. The commentator 'willing' a German equestrian competitor to hit the rails was a disgrace. Enough is enough - I have turned off the TV!! |

| Again, Channel 7 have proven that they can't be trusted to televise a world class international sporting event! Virtually no coverage of the athletics after a full three day program completed to date. Endless replays of swimming events, sports reporters who think they're more important than the athletes and Aussie jingoism to the nth degree. I've now switched off the Olympics until another broadcaster can get it right! And Channel 7 clearly doesn't listen to feedback!! I hope some of the advertisers read these message boards and understand the 'turn-off' factor! I also hope another broadcaster gets the rights for London 2012 and we can watch a variety of sports, not just when Austrlia is competing! These Games are gone for me thanks to Channel 7!! |

| I fully agree! I think it ought to be called the "Australian Swimming Olympics". 9 days of water sports with a wee smattering of other land based games to keep us hopefully watching for something different! What gets me is the FULL tally of medals is rarely shown if at all and my goodness....we must not be allowed to see any other nation winning!! Worst coverage Iv'e seen!! I do hope the UK games have a decent coverage without us being urged to be "Proud to be Australians"!!!every advt break!! |

Channel 7,s coverage of the Olympics is the most pathetic I have ever seen. Wall to wall adverts, self promotion, stupid super slow mo of past events and what the hell is with the commentary team? second hand nobodies with no idea what they are talking about "Tom Williams" doing the kayaking! and that Yum Cha show is terrible, full of stupid uneducated comments, seems like a chase of "jobs for the boys"
Im trying to watch the Athletics, which 7 have the rights too. Pathetic, they show one race, then an advert proceded by a slow mo vision of a swimmer doing buttfly, then 7 to 8 ads, then a "Golden moment" (swimming) then a 2min race and guess what an advert!!!!
Wake up 7!!!! your coverage is shocking!!!! |

| I have to agree, the Olympics coverage has been disappointing. Their have been so many ads during the coverage. Also, I'm annoyed at Channel 7 repeating one event over and over again. How many times do we need to watch the gymnastics? I don't mind watching the gymnastics myself, but not when it's shown again and again, and when hardly any of the Australians competing are shown. And what about repeating the swimming? Okay, I'm excited Australia won the gold, but I don't need to see it again and again, what about the other Australians competing in the other sports, I'd like to see them too! Very disappointing Channel 7, I thought you could do better! |

Since the opening of the Olympics I have tried to watch my favorite Olympic Sports: Fencing, Archery and Equestrian, but I'm simply not able to find any coverage for Fencing and Archery and only 4 tiny clips of only our Aussi riders in the cross-country eventing by channel seven at all. Neither regular TV coverage nor decent streaming videos are for those Olympic Sports available.
I can understand that channel seven tries to cover the most popular sports with its coverage and thats fine and good, but why the bloody hell, does that mean that as a free citizen in a democratic and free country like Australia I am not able to watch coverage of not-by-channel-seven-aire d Olympic disciplines on other/foreign web-pages?! Imposing an IP ban for all Australians that attempt to watch not covered Olympic sports, equals dictatorial censorship! What happened to freedom of the media in Australia? I mean if you guys would cover everything then its fine, at least I had a chance to enjoy the Olympics, but currently I and thousands, maybe even millions of Australians are forced to "read and look at photos" of Olympic sports that aren't covered by channel seven!!! How can the media, including channel seven, be outraged at China's policy to restrict correspondent's access for web-pages about Tibet, when basically the same happens in Australia in a much greater scale? Restricting the access on the Olympic Games of the free citizens of this country to only the coverage of channel seven is in no way different from what China did.
I am outraged at all this and am very disappointed with the way channel seven has managed the coverage of the Beijing Olympic Games and I bet I am not the only one. |

| Just so channel 7 gets the message - fix up your coverage or keep pissing off half of Australia. |
