Oh you used to live in Frankston tash. My relatives lived there too and WE lived in
Mt. Waverley which was out in the sticks when we first moved in. Now it's quite a trendy suburb.

Could hardly recognise the house my father built with his own two hands............

Oh, ok, is it dry and dusty there too???!!! when we drove through the country a couple of mths ago, the grass (what there was of it) was just straw colour, just terrible, and the poor water birds, pelicans etc had disappeared from their habitats at the lower lakes. Just tragic eh. Let's hope we all get some good rains next season eh. By the way, I lived in Frankston in the mid 60's when first married - loved VIC

Good on you Tash...hope the pooches enjoyed. I was up at 6am...while my walking partner was still in bed (fetlock not yet healed or the kryptonite got him). At least the dogs enjoyed my company.

Although born in Scotland, I believe he lived in NZ for some time? The accent is a mixture.

Pandora, thanks for the update. I don't think we are particularly colourful...just normal country bods (a few too many extroverts). We are planning May-July and can't wait until then. Unfortunately work gets in the way of a good time...PS: the rest of our Rafters fam. (and dogs) will just have to get along without us...but they have already made sure we can send and receive emails from the hotspots along the way.

Well sh3-d3vil, I came to Australia when I was 4 and became a dinkum Aussie in 1974 when I needed a passport...so I consider myself Australian.

You sound like you have a very colourful family...always up to something hey?

Re:Erik on Better Homes and Gardens Reply to this message
...Pandora, so you are a Brit then?

Our PTTR fam has cancelled plans to camp this weekend. Where we live it's expected to reach 39,38,40,40 etc. 'throw away Guy' says he'll just sit in the boat and drink Bundey and coke. Our Rachel is not amused because she got the boat motor back together and planned to take it for a spin. I'm relieved because it's not easy catering for the tribe when it's so hot...the lettuce ends up like cabbage and the milk turns to custard, not to mention not getting any sleep!

Re:Erik on Better Homes and Gardens Reply to this message
Well maybe his parents migrated from Scotland to NZ when he was young. He would be about the right age when lots of British people (including me) come to Australia and NZ.

Re:Erik on Better Homes and Gardens Reply to this message
Well done Panodora!!! i wouldnt have picked him as being from scotland, i thought he was from New Zealand, but from now on ill listen carefully to his accent. i have a family friend who was born in Scotland and her accent is really heavy but Eriks is very light and only noticable on certain words.

Re:Erik on Better Homes and Gardens Reply to this message
I'm back! Melbenfan, I see where you are coming from. But just think, no Dad is perfect and there are probably a lot worse that you think your Dad is. There weren't a lot of cuddles and kisses when I grew up, but we had food on the table and a roof over our heads. It was the same for my Tradey husband, so now our girls are treated like princesses. Downside to that is that they all side with him, make jokes at my expense, hahahaha, I have to laugh it off, but sometimes it's really annoying. Julie doesn't have to put up with that...and you probably notice Dave doesn't make too many hard decisions. PS: I say to my girls what goes around, comes around, just wait until they have three little nippers of their own to care for, no sleep ins and hours in the bathroom then! I wished my dad was Paul Newman.

Oh melbenfan, I felt a little sad when I read your comments about Dave being such a good father and how you would like a Dad like him.
I'm sure YOUR Dad has some good qualities too but maybe not the same as Dave.

He has a lovely mild accent doesn't he. I would not be surprised if he's originally from Scotland(long time ago)
I'm sure some-one will tell us.

Re:Erik on Better Homes and Gardens Reply to this message
other than my obvoius faves;

Dave is one of my fave characters!

Erik's portrayal of Dave is outstanding at times! (I would love to have a dad like, Dave) the baby is so lucky, and unfortunately bcoz Dave is a fictional character there is no way of that happening!

the recipe that he was cooking on Better Homes and Gardens looked great! yum!

I agree tash, I think Eric is fast becoming one of my favourite characters and he's certainly looking gorgeous on and off the show.
