Re:nudity Reply to this message
i just read on the news blog under drama drama drama, that the reason sara didn't do those shots was because she has put on all the weight she lost!!!!!! and that it hasn't come out yet. hannah is right if you want to loose weight quickly and you are thin anyway ('cause sara is not fat), then you have to be super strict with you diet.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
I think good on Sara for refusing to do something she wasnt comfortable with. And good on those who did feel comfortable and did it. On a show like this it should be absolutely optional to do that sort of thing and it should have absolutely no bearing on their chances of winning - even normal models get to choose to opt out of these sorts of shoots including and especially supermodels as they do what is best for their "brand". I also think Tyson Beckford should keep his private parts to himself and personal comments to the judging area and not make comments about the models to other models- very unprofessional and it actually looked like he was trying to score points with Shanina romantically on the reward dinner episode.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
And another thing, why are people so uptight about nudity? The outrage expressed by some people would make one think the models were required to star in porn films.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Beauty pageants and the world of modelling may overlap but are not comparable. Modelling agencies and judges in pageants do not look for the same qualities.

The fact that Jennifer Hawkins has landed lucrative modelling contracts does not make her a supermodel. Has she been on the cover of U.S., British or French Vogue? No. Has she been in fashion shows in Paris, Milan, New York or London? No.

Being the face of an Australian department store chain does not make her a supermodel.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Winners of the Miss Universe pageant have been disqualified and the crown passed on to the runner up when it has been revealed (pardon the pun) that they have done nude photo shoots for a "Men's" magazine. Even "models" doing topless shoots for the less risque magazines have lead to a Miss Universe being dethroned. Some top models have come to the modelling "profession" via this pageant.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
The girls were not naked on the body paint challenge anyway (that was the one that Sara refused to take part in). If you notice the girls actually all had boob tube things on anyway. They weren't topless at all. The paint was then applied over the boob tube. So I am at a bit of a loss to figure out why Sara didn't take part in it because to me, they were no different to wearing bikinis at the beach??

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Sadly, I thought last night episode was a disgrace. It can be seen clearly that the contestants are being exploited. They are much young and much naïve. They understand so little about life and what true beauty means. I may say Jennifer is a true beauty, both from the inside and outside. This is what the show should be promoting - TRUE beauty, not just flesh and catwalk!! Nudity is not something you want to encourage in order to gain confidence or to become a supermodel!!! Now look at the example of Kate Moss who possesses flesh and good catwalk. She is a world class super skinny model, a drug addict and a single mom. Ask yourself this question, would you trade all your morals and ethics to become a super model like Kate Moss?

If this what a super model is suppose to be, than I have no further comments on last night episode.

** Thumb down to the directors and managers of the show **

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Did you actually see the show? They were given the option of modelling nude or in flesh coloured bikinis. Those who chose the bikinis didn't reveal any more flesh than they do when modelling swimwear.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
The whole Fed Square routine was foolish. They are there to be made into models not ballet dancers.

However, when it comes to nudity in photo shoots, the models need to learn that sometimes they will be required to do things that are new to them. No one is entirely comfortable when in a new situation. The key is to be adaptable and do their best.

It is also important to say no to situations that are more than just uncomfortable, as was the case for Sara. Good on her for expressing her concerns and not allowing herself to be bullied into going against her ethics.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Regardless of this nudity thing, Sarah and nobody else for that matter should be forced or coerced into doing something that makes her/them feel uncomfortable. Nor should she need to feel guilty for standing up for herself. If you had a child, would you want them to do something that will make them feel that uncomfortable? I'm sure Jennifer wouldn't do something if she didn't want too.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Honestly do any of you know about supermodels and the work attributed to them? Nudity is a part of the job of a Model and honestly quality models understand that. That said there is a difference between Art and Nudity for the sake of it but there wasn't a real job involving nudity it was implied nudity as they all had skin toned garments on for the assignment at Flinders Street. So please before you armchair experts comment please get a idea on the reality of modelling and the jobs required.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
I think any "model" who agrees to, and proceeds with, the "nude" photo shoot should automatically disqualify them self. I do think that "prostituting them self for the sake of a "competition" should be seen as a positive. Perhaps it should be seen more like the "temptation" used in "that other network's" weight loss reality program where the contestants are "tempted" with unhealthy food and if they succumb they risk being voted off. That is, if a "potential" model agrees to appear nude, then they should be voted off the program.

Re:nudity Reply to this message
Jennifer is not and never was a supermodel. She was Miss Universe. Not the same thing at all.

As for posing nude, no they don't have to do it but most have done so. It's a huge honour to pose for photographers who are renowned for their artistic nudes.
