It's a hard one. Popular shows very rarely get a look in for the peer voted awards, even though there are some outstanding actors in them. I think there's a bit of tall poppy syndrome in the industry.
I think the amount of awards could be cut down though. But I think the public voted awards are still a very important part of the night. Otherwise, the actors and shows being recognised would mainly include shows the majority of the audience have never watched/heard of.
Just my opinion. |

| I think the logies shud stillbe held in the one ceremony but have the list of public voted catigories shortened to only 4 awards: Most popular actor&actress, most popular presenter and most popular t.v show....thats it! then all other catigories can be peer voted. This will heavily reduce the amount of flak the awards get about the voting process being rigged or being heavily infulenced by t.v exactutives and it can gain alot more crediabity. |

Technically speaking, the Gold Logie is for the 'most popular personality on Australian TV.' Note the key work PERSONALITY. Why then are actors eligible for this award? We are not seeing their personality on TV - they are ACTING. We see their character's personality, but not the actor's personality. That's what the Silver Logies are for, are they not? For the most popular actor?
I just think that the Logies make a mockery of Australian TV, because so many awards are based on viewer votes, and I don't think that TV's so-called 'night of nights' should be based on a popularity contest. It's great that there are peer-voted awards (ie the 'Most Outstanding' awards), but I think that the viewer based awards take the credibility away from this & make the whole awards show look tacky in comparison to, say, the Golden Globe awards. I know we can't get up to the standard of the USA, but I think that we have a talented bunch of actors in Australia who deserve more credible recognition for their hard work. Perhaps they should look at separating the two (ie into two separate awards ceremonies for public voted and peer voted).
What do thee think?? |
