| those Louis Theroux episodes are repeats from years ago. There were possibly only half a dozen made anyway and as with any series it goes downhill a bit after the first three or four shows. And ,for that matter, Kath and Kim ,as brilliant as Gina Riley and Jane Turner are as writers,actors,etc. {they} have been on Seven then on 2 ABC then back on Seven over the yrs.:- and well and truly deserve a rest,along with the program:Catch a Qantas flight from Europe home and watch it on the plane if you need to.I do not believe ch.7 would have kept it on as a replacement for the U.S. version much longer;end-of-ratings season or no. Point is,even if the American version is unfamiliar and perhaps in the view of many,inferior,at least it's fresh -- relatively.The Florida-flavoured version of the white wedding carriage, on last night and the Rottweiiler breeding side-plot were amusing. Although,in the Aussie original,the wedding between Kath Day & Kel Knight did not come until the second or later series (?) [See,I HAVE watched and liked "our" one ! ] i just think there is room in television for a little cross-cultural pollination and variation. But maybe I'm biased because i find Selma Blair one of the most appealing actors on free-to -air at the moment,from an admittedly biased male point of view: - no-one deserves a free ride in life,however she has paid her dues in the business in sit-coms and movies; cut her and the rest of the cast and crew some slack.Similar to Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy on Married With Children,it takes comedic skill and timing for a beautiful,smart woman to play a dumb,trashy one -with humour.As does as the Yank Kim. P.S. Glenn Robbins does a better power walk than the new guy.But the casting of Kim's husband is spot-on to peter rowsthorne as Greg // Craig.Kudos for Seven for at least trying it.Nine,e.g.,probably would not have had the programming-guts to..and as for Channel Ten ?? perhaps two ... |

| Seven Network please tell me why would you consider "This Is Your Laugh!" any better than allowing us to watch the rest of the American Kath & Kim series? I would have to say K&K:USA is an award winning show by comparison to this long awaited disappointment from Andrew O'Keefe. A rip-off hybrid of Thank God You're Here and Enough Rope with Andrew Denton, it fails on all levels. Let us see the full American Kath & Kim series during the non-ratings period. Get over it, it's not on the same level as our Kath & Kim, but you didn't give it a chance to find it's own feet! |
