| i live in perth but when i first moved to sydney i didnt want to go and leave my family but i had to so i believe that ric is doing the right thing why would u want to do a big move like that untill u are completely sure and ready for a big move | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I think that although he has gone about it the wrong way, he was trying to do this FOR Mattie. He didn't want to hurt her and he doesn't want to lose her, but he can see she wants a fresh start and with him there, or in a distant relationship, that isn't going to be a fresh start. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I remenber when she first came to the bay and she acted VERY snobby. she would curse in French when she was upset. | i think people forget mattie's shortcomings in the relationship with ric because his cheating on her was so bad that it eclipsed everything she ever did wrong. while he didn't officially cheat, as we saw, he was an emotional cheat long before he slept with her, so mattie was quite right being paranoid. that being said, i'm somewhat glad mattie is leaving. she was incredibly superficial and treated the sutherlands like cr*p when they were her step-family (not that that has changed, given how she is treating kirsty) |

| I just love how people fall under this wonderful magical illusion that Mattie has never done any wrong in her entire relationship with Ric and she's always supported him and loved him. WRONG. The entire reason Ric was attracted to Viv in the first place was because Matilda was selfish and spoilt. He supported her the entire way through her mother's death. He didn't rush her in their physical relationship, he put up with all her insecurities and then her hideous paranoia about Viv when NOTHING had happened. He didn't cheat on her, she broke up with him and he got comfort from Viv. Whether they were broken up for a day or a month they were still broken up. The only reason Mattie became likeable was because she grew up and stopped being so selfish, and took on Viv and the baby situation. The only time I can ever see Ric being at fault was that stupid fight storyline; he looked like an idiot. Apart from that Ric has never asked Mattie to go along with everything. I think Mattie needs to do whatever she feels is necessary. Relationships change all the time, they shouldn't come inbetween opportunities. That said she doesn't need to make Ric come with her, AND she doesn't need to treat Ric like an uneducated bumpkin by saying "is this really what you want to do with your life?" because his dreams don't extend as far across the country as hers. She is such a snob the way she said "stay here and sell BAIT" That is why she annoys me. |

| Fully agreed - claims he loves her and wants her to focus on uni bla bla - if he loved her he'd go with her! Mattie was spot on when she went at him for Viv and the fights, the whole time he wasn't honest and didn't treat Mattie right. | Like how many times has she stood by him, and as soon as she wants support from him, he rejects her, then doesnt even want to try and do the long distance thing,for her. Ok i know he stood by her when her mother died, but thats about the only time. She deserved better than Ric |
