| have a great night tonight jaybear - and yes i do feel very sorry for those people that do door to door work and set up little stalls in malls (although sometimes these people actually have factories - i found one out one time and they owned a big factory) - but it must be so hard to keep knocking on doors and in most cases having them slammed in your face |

| Yes tash - although I find them annoying, I do admire the fact that they are actually out trying to make a living. I often wonder how often they actually make a sale this way. |

| Yes, I understand that people are trying to make a living. Was thinking that today when at a big shopping centre - all the poor devils in the middle of the malls in their little stalls trying to sell something. think I'd rather do cleaning! I have had a silent phone number for yrs. It was for a specific reason yrs ago, but i find it handy now, so have left it as is. |

arrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhh - the phone and electric contract sellers!! I remember them from living in Melbourne. They are like fleas, or leeches or some other nasty insect. Fortunately we don't get them here.
However, we do get many people trying to sell insulation via phone. I no longer answer the phone around 3-4 in the afternoon, or 6-7.30 at night, unless the caller speaks into the answering machine. |

| yeah same here tash - i mostly get poor guys - at about 6pm and after - trying to sell mobile phone plans or elect plans etc - i think to myself - what a terrible job - i work with the public also - so i know what its like to be abused and treated badly - so i wld never be rude to them - as i know they r only trying to make a living - but my preference is that i just dont answer the door in the first place |

| "Botty burps" LOL! yrs ago when I still lived at home, we used to get a lot of religious hawkers on weekends, so Dad devised a little scheme of placing a sprinkler at each gate (we had a drive in/out driveway) and that certainly deterred them. We mainly get people trying to sell phone, elect contracts now, usually when it's just getting dark, so I don't even answer the door. Bloody cheek. |

| Good one Trekker, at the risk of sounding naive, wouldn't it be great if we could take the best of all of the religious beliefs and practice those. |

lol magic
I had some door to door religion sellers a few days back too and after politely saying no thanks, one of them commented on my earrings (I have 5 holes - one with a yinyang, one with an Ohm, one with a silver feather, a star stud and a mushroom stud). He said - I see you're interested in Eastern belief systems and I said yes.
He then said said "I think Christianity has a lot to answer for, don't you?"
Seeing his ploy to suck me into a convesation, I said "Nice try and bye bye for now" and politely closed the door.
I find these religion pushers are incredibly invasive and will do/say almost anything to engage you in conversation. By appearing to be negative about Christianity, he tried to sucker me into a conversation on how superior his chosen beliefs. |

I have to share this story, I am still chuckling about it. The path to my front door isn't easy at the best of times but yesterday after a little rain, my prized hydrangea was almost making it impossible to get to the door. I don't want to cut it back because it is almost ready to burst into flower, next to it is a camellia.
Dinner time, door bell, three men in suits, my first thought, dectectives!(I haven't done anything bad at all) nope, they were from some religion, I politely said I had my own religion, next of the suits said, could be come back and cut back your greenery, I thanked them but said no, well, I looked out the window, here they were nose to butt, hunched over navigating their way past the hydrangea and water drips, I hope they didn't hear me but I did do a rather loud snort! and gaffaw! I just thought, omg, I hope one of them doesn't do a botty burp! |

| Hi Magic, I just posted some thoughts on old age on the joke thread, hope you enjoy - Ithink you'll like the last one.. My housework is done, I'm having a lazy day today, have to go for a bit of a drive to take my daughters friends home - no one lives just down the road for us being rural so it is about an hour round trip. We are going to a friends birthday bash tonight - they have a pizza oven so we have gourment delux pizzas - really yum. The wife is an excellent cook, not to mention a great friend!! |

Hi Lisa, it is still rather humid at the moment and no rain yet but so much better than it has been.
That was so rude gosh, 43 is only young, what a nasty little person to say that to your friend.
I think Chris Bath is lovely, I just don't get people attacking like that. I think the dude on the baby boomer thread may have got the message. I am sure the bloke speaking from his winabago was playing up to the cameras too, some people go a bit silly when they are on tv, but he has worked for his money, why not enjoy it.
I am slowly cleaning my house........... |

| Good Morning all. :>) Magic, I saw that Chris Bath thread and was quite shocked. I don't know where these young kids get off on being so insulting. A friend of mine (age 43) was going into a local wine bar the other night, there was a bit of a queue to get in, and this 18y.o. struts up to her and says something like, "go home to your kids, we don't want you cougars in here"!! My friend was ropable, it really spoiled her night, although she lasted longer than the little tart!! (after not letting her get away with it!) One of my biggest gripes is bad manners, and that is just plain bad manners. Same with the dude on the Baby Boomer thread, he is just rude (but looks like we may have shut him up LOL). Anyway, hope everyone's enjoying their day, has the heatwave calmed down a bit? x |

Morning everyone, lovely- cool here this morning, waiting for the promised rain.
Coach, I have a clam shell that I fill with water, my little dog watches it fill then jumps in, she is part poodle so her back legs spread out like a frog in the water.
Trekk hi, I started to watch Impact, it was rather slow and went to midnight, I gave up around 11, I had a swine flu shot and the doc said it may make me tired, I usually never feel tired, maybe it was the suggestion?
How negative is it over there >>>>>>>>> I am amazed someone called Chris Bath an old thing, gosh people are rude and nasty, not worth the effort really, they are not nice, much rather come here for a laugh and a chat. |
