| I actually Enjoy the Rhumbas smoother with hip action & Cha Cha with its more energetic shuffle movement I like a alot of different dances waltz evening 3, step ,tango id do almost any But where I used to train dancing they could vary the spreed of the music to get the dancing right..... Um was the Music right for the dances to slow or too fast or just altogether wrong music for the dances that can cause them to not move to the music well .Makes a big difference I did some modern too.was a while ago now although you can pick up a feel for a dance with a partner who can dance when you know at least the basics Very well.Pity wasn't up to standard but sounds like still had a good time I like a solid foundation in the routines without that how do you know where you are at each movement if at least the basic foundations set. I love the clothes too its all a part of it still would have been lovely to go .. |

Good to see you are healing well Tina.....Sorry to hear you were a little disappointed at the Nationals.....I am sure it wasn't a total loss.
Were most of the top dancers not competing this time, and did it coincide with any International Comps.??
Won't be long before we can sit and judge the dancers on DWTS.....I am so grateful I am now an Expert....LOL:)) In my dreams, however I do know what I Like:))
P.S. was my boy Craig there??? |

gee you lot have got a two track mind - booze and chocci!
I jest its ok. Thank you magicmazza I am feeling quite a lot better and sadly am now having to work at full load to catch up on lost time.
Re Canberra - I think the standard of the competition was not as good this year although the Adult Modern and New Vogue had some stunning dancers competing.
The tiny tots are always good for an oooh an ahh and there was one little one - can't have been more than 5 or 6 years old who lit up the floor - she was sooo cute. She gave her partner a tuf time too.
Latin is not really my scene and the dancers seem to have more gyrations and aggressive posing and face pulls to scare off the competition. They seem to get more samey each year and it gets harder to tell the cha cha from the rhumba steps even though one knows the rythms are different. if that makes sense. A view shared by a friend of mine who is also a judge.
A lot of the dancers in both modern and latin seem to dance over the music rather than with the music, they don't seem to 'feel it'. A good example of what I mean was with Tim Cambell when he did the waltz in DWTS that was dancing with the and feeling the music.
Maybe I am just getting a tad mature aged and not so tolerant of the flashy stuff and prefer solid technique and elegant dancing. (mars bars too)
Costumes - most years there's a theme or a style emerging with the dresses some very pretty ones and some very ugly ones but no real theme in terms of style this year.
It was good to get my fix of sparkles and South Pacifics are on in Darling Harbour in Ocotber but we had better have DWTS before then LOL |

Well the goss (and very well informed goss it is. I am at the national dance championships in canberra attended by the Who's Who of the ballroom world, and lots of eye candy)
Says that DWTS is ready to go again in August and they are in the final stages of signing up the 'Stars'. Will do more super sleuthing today. So watch this space. |
