Better stock up on duty free Baileys or Malt Whiskey - you'll be rid of me for a few days whilst I take some R&R and prepare for the new season - though I have logged on from Asia before so don't hold your breath !

Yes but this show and most reality talent TV shows are watched mainly by females, and they will note vote for the beautiful talented female, they are jelous of such attributes and always vote for the male of underdog female.

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
I just can’t see the logic behind the following:

It’s a dance competition. Yes, the audience votes, but it’s a competition where people... are dancing... and are judged based on that dancing. The best dancer should win, yes? Experience is like natural talent – it’s an advantage over the competition. It’s a ridiculous reason not to vote for the best dancer.

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
It's interesting to read your thoughts on your DWTS because so many of what you think are very much in line with how a lot of us here in the States feel about who wins our DWTS.

One of the biggest gripes was the lack of female winners (Only 2. S1 it was soap star Kelly Monaco & the most recent winner figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi).

Over and over again people cry foul on our MB's when someone with the slightest hint of dance experience appears on the show. The MB was flooded this past season how it wasn't fair that Kristi was on the show..Kristi is a ringer or Kristi is a cheat.

The same thing happened in season 5 year with Mel B. of the Spice Girls (who btw should have won but lost out to race car driver Helio Castroneves..who was NOT the better dancer).

It shows that the same arguments apply to every version of the show.

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
I still think John Paul beating Paul Green in a dance competition ranks as the #1 example of how ridiculous the Australian SMS voting public can be.

Closely followed by a voting backlash against someone dancing the best because she had dance experience. As a result she somehow fails to win a dancing competition.

And let's not forget the 'D' word fiasco! Our farmer who managed to get so scarily close to winning a dance competition, despite never learning how to dance a step.

And so on. It's tragic but Australia really doesn't appreciate good dancing :(

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
Thats right, its the name of the game, most popular person, hardly ever the most talented. We all know Australia votes ridiculously, my example is undeniable ... 2 words, CASEY DONOVAN!

WTF!! we all love the morbidly obese, chain smoking, gutter mouth train wreck/smashed crab!

Hey nanatricia - 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' remember? History and Geography are good but WE like entertainment too and dancing is a very technical and difficult thing. Re the voting being inaccurate due to people being able to call numerous times - well that's the name of the game - the 'most popular' - every contestant can have the same people call over & over for them. In any case its a fun show that's appealing to lots if not you

"I have absolutely no time for DWTS"

And yet you have the time to source the DWTS site, find the message boards, write and respond to threads. How hypocritical of you.

A deliberate attempt to look stupid, how amusing for us, if you hang around long enough, and i would be certain you will, there will be plenty more idiots to converse with, always is.

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
Entertainment preferences vary widely amongst the general public, and thankfully there is a variety of programs to cater for those preferences. Not everyone will enjoy the same programs, nor should we expect that our choices should take precedence over anyone else's.

So far as DWTS, ITT and similar shows go, many people are entertained by them and may even be encouraged to choose an artistic career as a result.

Perhaps, nanatricia41, you could use some of your 'superior intellect' and learn to spell.

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
A simple answer to your problem nanatrica - dont watch the show and leave it to those that do enjoy it.

There's great diversity in the viewing public so we'll enjoy dancing and you go enjoy bookclub on ABC

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
I am not bitter, I just think things of this nature are not in the least bit intellectual and are mind numbing and moronic, like Bold and Beautiful and stuff like that. What about things like Histoy, or geography or stuff like David Attenborough, now they to me are very interesting, and are worth sitting down to watch. Voting on shows like Idol and dancing withthe starts is not accurate as people can make as may calls as they like if they specifically like a person and not the way they danced or in Idol just to keep a person there even if they are no good. The only people making money out of those type of shows is Telstra, Optus etc: and let's face it they overcharge already for services provided.

I realise it is a personal choice, but In my case intellect wins every time. I used to enjoy CSI but there are so many of those type of shows now that they are also not worth watching anymore. How about something that make people actually think and use their imagination or their brains or is it a case of floowing the rest of the sheep who talk about it next day at work.

Re:Paul Mercurio Reply to this message
I have absolutely no time for DWTS, Singing Bee, Battle of the Choirs, Idol, You think you can dance or any of these so called super judges who go on their and often have no other comment expcept to be rude.

What dull colourless and boring lives people must read to have to watch such mindless rubbish.

What happened to a really good Book, or a programme with intellect,Commercial television is now worse than womens magazines, which have not been worth wasting money on for years as they are full of unwanted information on nothing people like Nicole Kidman, The Daddo's Pamela Anderson etc: who cares what these shallow people do with their lives.

Bring back some suitable entertainment on a Saturday night like we used to have with In Melbourne tonight or the likes. Something that was funny and would give you a laugh in the depressing times we live in. God help us if we have to rely on the reality programmes for entertainment.

Yes and that was many many years ago. Sadly as a judge on DWTS he has shown how little he knows about ballroom and latin american dancing and the world of dancesport
