| cheekymememe - I'm sure your sentiments are sincere, but in view of the earlier posts on this thread, it would have been kinder to have left it where it was rather than bring it to light again. Sorry. |

| I think David is a wonderful encouragement for anyone going through such a serious illness, not once but three times. David in no way needs sympathy votes - too see him looking (with the exception of last night, poor thing) and doing so much with his life is proof that there is plenty of life to be lived after some big battles. |

| Regarding Jessica mentioning her charity as often as she could...I think that her growing up with her mum being in and out of hospital with bipolar disorder (they wrote an excellent book together) has made her a passionate advocate and excellent role model for other people whose family members are touched by mental illness. Good on her, I say. |

| LOL* I agree with you!! Don't forget Jessica's charity that she mentioned as often as possible. He does have a quirky sense of humour and to open himself to discuss his cancer as a teen was a very brave thing I think |

"I certainly hope ALL of the remaining celebrities get the chance to discuss their charity ... to pull on a few heartstrings. I didn't quite understand why they did that for David and noone else last night. Nice way to pull in some votes lol thinks the cynic in me."
I have to say that when you refer to someone who is trying to 'pull in votes' by refering to a serious previous illness it does go way below the belt. Please consider what he must have been through before you comment on this. Yes tear his dancing to shreds if you must, and anything else, but not this. Thanks again. |

I dont think David minded that Sonia was mucking about and pretending to try and get him to speak. He'd been doing the same thing himself with the judges. I really wish people would just get a sense of humour from somewhere LOL
Anyway - I was very moved by his mention of why he is pleased to be supporting this charity. It obviously meant a lot to him and he was clearly emotional. Very touching. I hadn't known about his previous illnes till now.
And yes, they should give a lot more air time to the charities involved. |

I have on a number of occasion expressed my disappointment that so little mention is being made of the nominated charities on DWTS. I know a lot of people have their own ideas about the reason for this, however, it was good to see this very worthwhile charity mentioned last night, and I hope other celebrities will be given the chance to promote theirs as well. Some of us still consider that, however much/little is given to the charity, it's still a valid reason for voting.
David's reasons for going public about his illness would have had nothing to do with trying to gain sympathy votes. He has always strongly resisted talking about it at all, but his deep appreciation for the work done by the Peter MacCallum Institute would have induced him to break his silence. |

What charming sentiments - NOT!!!
Several of the celebs have already had attention drawn to their nominated charities, two of them being Michael Klim and James Courtney, and the norm is usually one charity per show. Last night was David's turn, and not something he would've enjoyed since he's always preferred to keep his past health problems private. However the desire to give something back to the institution which has done so much for him (and others) overcame his natural reluctance to 'go public' and is much to be admired - this was no ploy to gain votes. |

I dont think david's intention was to get more votes through it. He just wanted to help others as he has been helped before. David is not a show off.
I got quite crossed that sonia tried to get him to speak while the poor guy looked so ill and kept on coughing. He did well trying to soldier on.
Hope he is recovering |

| Last night, David Hobson referred to having had cancer as a teenager and his charity is the hospital where he was treated. Does anyone know what cancer he had? I had a brush with cancer as a teenager as well, so I'm interested, as David and I are the same age. If any David fan knows, I'd be grateful. Thanks. |
