Re:Floorplay Reply to this message
Trust me, when the DVD is released in Australia, it will be worht the wait. Currently the DVD only features most of the show. It will be repackaged with bonus features by the time we hit perth. You have to remember, it was only 3 weeks ago the DVD was shot, and has been quite an ambitious task getting it ready.

Yes, let's hope it's soon. So many of the dancers are from Australia so it makes sense to bring it out in Australia first.

Re:Floorplay Reply to this message
The DVD is currently being sold at the merchandise stands at all Japanese venues. It is in NTSC format (Australians use PAL) and is encrypted as Region 2. The PAL formatted version will be ready for sale in July. Currently, plans to distribute the DVD through retail outlets is only in its earliest stages and a decision doesnt seem to be in the near future. But stay tuned to the website and myspace profile for any deatils on how the eastern states can get their hands on a copy.

Thanks so much for the offer, but when I tried sending your email, my computer wouldn't allow it. I need to install something & to be honest, I'm not that brave :(

Thanks anyway,
Florence.

Re:Floorplay Reply to this message
Back in the day of Jason Gilkison's BALLROOM, a printed sheet of biogs was given out to the audience, but no printed program has been published, for many reasons. The show travels around the world very quickly, cast changes occur all the time, shipping is expensive.... but a printed program is still being talked about. As a consolation, the company set a myspace profile, which features all the information and photos, and even more than a booklet would feature. It is the way many shows are going now. Soon, 'personalised' biogs will be available, which will be more in depth and able for you all to comment on and send personal greetings directly to your favourite cast members. Hope you are all doing great and catch you online at http://www.myspace.com/btffloorplay or http://www.burnthefloor.com

Re:Floorplay Reply to this message
No, I don't have the current Floorplay program, just one that they gave out in their prior show, Ballroom.

I'm after a program as well so hopefully we can but it off the website when we buy our DVDs.

Bec, let us know when you hear anything.

Re: "Ballroom" programs
pinkcupcake.eater mentioned that he/she had a BTF "Ballroom" program. I didn't think any had been printed. If so, how can I get a hold of a copy ???? :)

Re:Floorplay Reply to this message
Even the opening and closing of the show were brilliantly done. As the lights dimmed, one of the male dancers, clandestinely seated in the front slipped out a camera and took a flash photo of his female companion who had sauntered appealingly down the aisle. Feigning surprise and anger, she confiscated the camera and tore out the film with a vindictive flourish. At once a mobile phone rang, which he pulled out and answered just as a voice announce the message to turn off phones and refrain from photographing. At the end when the audience enthusiasm seems unquellable even after two encores, waving colored lights start to swoop over the audience as the dancers fade into blackout and everyone is satisfied.

If you missed it, make a mental note not to when they next appear.

“Burn the Floor presents FloorPlay”

Its not often I can give an unreserved 10 to any show, but this one gets it all right. Spectacular staging, superb dancing, excellent music and lighting and impeccable production. No wonder the capacity audience gave it a standing ovation.

Riding the crest of the ballroom dance wave, this show has drawn together 10 couples from the professional ballroom world arena and integrated their dance into a seamless flow ranging from the Waltzes to Lain American to Rock ‘n’ roll with an electric energy level that leaves you breathless. Naturally they are beautiful and they epitomize the height of sensuality, rhythm and expression of which great dance is capable.

Burn The Floor began in England in the late 1990’s and has since come under the choreographic direction of Australian dancer Jason Gilkison who, with partner Peta, were one-time world champions. Although three of the performing couples were from Australia while others hailed from Europe and North America. The universality of ballroom dance allowed for perfect collaboration. Solos, duos and group dances, either as mixed couples, men only or woman only, made for endless variety and dynamics, supported by two singers and live percussionists, all accompanied by recorded tracks. Good use was made of the aisles in the theatre auditorium including some audience involvement. It’s difficult to single out highlights, but for me the Latin American section in the second half came close. As well as the usual tangos and Paso Dobles, there was a number set to the opening/closing theme from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, with stamping, swirling capes and dark passion, stunning.
