Sorry I disappeared for a while because just after I posted earlier about finding the EBC46 website, my dog made signals that he wanted to go for a walk - and that's rare atm so off we went! LOL It was freezing cold out but he kinda took off at a loping gallop towards the rec ground so I followed :)
Anyway - when I got home I had messages on my front door telling me about the ACA show and ebc46 etc from neighbours.
Isn't that wonderful!
Off to check out the ACA site and tash - thanks for the phone no. 03 is Tassie and Vic so I'm assuming it's a melbourne number.
I'm ringing them first thing tomorrow - and then my vet.
I'm not sure how this all relates to bone cancer and possible lung cancer (if it's spread there) but it might be worth trying anyway. |

| This sounds like a good thing for human cancers too? Is this something they are trying on animals first? Sorry, haven't seen the show yet. |

| yes, for sure. I think they're calling for pets to be trialled at this stage? wld be in victoria with an 03 no? unless other vets can access supplies. The guy who disocvered it is with the CSIRO - one of the most respected organisations in the world. |

| Yes Tash..I think all of them have been cured and at least 2 of the dogs on the show tonight only had ONE injection..the vet said it takes about 5 days for it to be gone...I was listening so hard and trying to write things down that I can't remember it all. |

| Oh gosh...I'm so excited! Just goes to show that a little community like here, where we talk of 'general' things...might find something to help one of the others...I really am praying Jacki can get somewhere with this. |

I googled ebc46 and got straight to this page where you can download the application for your vet to submit if you want to trial it on your animal.
http://www.ecobiotics.com.au/clinical-trials.htm
I'll do a bit more research on what's in it and see if my vet can find out more.
That's great jaybear! |

Not sure if you saw A Current Affair tonight but they were talking about a cancer cure being trialled for pets.
One guy had his oh can't remember type but veey large dog who was given only 6 weeks to live, not sure how many treatments he had but 2 other dogs had only one treatment.
The treatment is for when there is no alternative ie operation etc ...an injection of a drug called EBC46 (derived from the fruit of a north Queensland rainforest tree) injected straight into the tumour, it shrinks the tumour...under GA of course.
The trials are being done by Ecobiotics (think that's correct) and there's info on the ACA website. |
