Thanks Lisa, we are all around and check in occasionally but hard for us to chat realtime as we all live in different states. Emails work best as you can exchange personal info, photos, music to our hearts' content.
The dancing is all going very well and I'm excited at the prospect of so many socials at this time of year plus the chance to wear all my new purchases of which there are plenty :-) |

| Hi Cheeky! LOL re competition, I was hoping that would get a bite! Just missing a bit of the old repartee on this board, I hope I didn't insult Toddy when I said the Terragugtlias might be a bit squashy, we haven't heard from him since! Glad to hear you are all alive and well, I do enjoy seeing you all here from time to time. Happy dancing all!! xx |

No Lisa I didn't realise it was a competition :-)
Rest assured we are in touch via email as we lead busy lives.
One of us has just started an important new job consisting of long hours (plus dances)
One of us holds a job which makes them very busy at this time of year (plus dance lessons and socials).
One of us is busy running a business, home, dance lessons and socials.
One of us presumably is xmas shopping and still trying to secure Terraguglias for everyone when they come off the production line :-)
We are all alive and very well :-) |

Best place to practice the rhumba walks is the supermarket yep - pushing the supermarket trolley.
Great to balance, bit of lean and knee bend and straighten - been using that technique for years now and it works |

I'm learning that one too at the moment Rosy. Have done basics/intermed but am trying to refine the technique. I think it's the hardest dance, lol. It's certainly testing me out as there is no room for error as it's done slow. One way to think of the timing was brought to my attention/amusement on Sunday with one of my teachers, lol.
Instead of Quick/Quick/Sllloowww where you pause, he was saying Quick/Quick/Sexytime, lol. So think of sexytime now when you pause so you pause for that bit longer. I know that I tend to rush it sometimes as I'm not used to dancing slow. Not used to doing anything slow in fact. |

| CCC, I am learning the Cuban rumba and the proper rumba walk. I can see that it will take years to 'get it.' |

| Thanks for your imput Tina. As I have only been dancing for 5 weeks, I still do a jerky jive but I am determined to master the technique and make it fast and fluid! |

| The only amateur I've seen from DWTS or SCD do a great jive is Jill Halfpenny from SCD series 2. She danced with Darren Bennett. |

It's hard to create a beautiful look/shape/pictu re with the jive and it's more of a fun dance to do at socials/parties. Although I have danced it for years now I have dropped off on the training for this dance as I've simply grown tired of it plus I don't think it really suits me. Same with salsa. I just concentrate on the classier ones that show me off to my full ability.
I would call it bouncier than the other styles. Even with samba the bounce is taken out once you move onto intermediate level.
Just learn enough to get by Rosy if you don't like it. You don't have to like all of the dances. Keep concentrating on the ones that work better for you in the latin and ballroom.
They do seem to play a lot of jive at socials as people love it but not only have I grown out of this dance, I've grown out of the music style too, lol. I gravitate more towards latin these days :-) Love the tango too grrrrrrr |

| Actually rosy if you look at the pros who dance jive well - even Nat on the UK Strictly Come Dancing you will see that jive is not jerky but fast fluid movement with lots of kicks and spins that make it difficult but fun to do once you have achieved mastery of the technique |

| Hi CCC, I'm not that keen on jive as it seems to go against everything I like and learnt about dance i.e. to create a beautiful movement/look/shape/pictu re and jive is so jerky! |
