| Wasn't Bony also supposed to be well educated. That definitely went against the stereotypes of the day. I watched the doco about the series a few years ago and it was really good. Also the series could, and probably would, be updated to reflect more modern times and attitudes. |

| Yeah that would be good. The problem is that for the past decade or so Bony stories and Arthur Upfield the author of them, have been considered "politically incorrect" by the fun police so a lot of people have pretended not to like them for a while now. I'm not sure why it's "PI". Because it allegedly equates black with female and white with male??? (ie his mum was black his dad was white) Because it portrays indigenous people as spiritual and whites as logical??? (he uses indigenous intuition etc and white deductions) - These are the "criticisms" I've heard about the books. Along with the words "stereotypes" etc (there's nothing wrong with stereotypes as such, they can be useful and revealing. It's "negative" stereotypes that can be problematic - I don't see Bony as a negative reflection of either white or black culture) And all that's only a problem anyway if you think male is inherently superior to female and logical is inherently superior to spiritual/intuitive - which I don't. Also there seems to me to be much more to the character than this shallow interpretation - for example, he uses tracking skills and the intricate knowledge of the land/nature from his indigenous culture to solve crimes - that is actually LOGIC!!! So why do all these "PC" people think otherwise???? Seems to me they are the ones having a pc problem - not Arthur Upfield. Sorry for the rant LOL I get a bit riled about this sort of uninsightful, band-wagon boycotting of people's works. |

| P.S. It was Water Rats that he was in. That's where I first noticed him too, although I've seen everything he's done since. And he was not the producer of Big Brother. That was another man with the same name. |

| I disagree. Aaron is a really good actor and he's portraying the character as it was written. They seem to have lightened Duncan up this season so maybe we'll notice a difference.
