nicole.sollart, when last seen "Duncan" was alive, if not exactly kicking, so continued to be absent on sick leave at the send of series 2. The character killed off was "Bernice's" kidnapped son.

Of course they have to get the audience familiar with the character who dies - it's one of the ways you increase the drama and the audience's investment in the welfare and rescue of the person involved.
I was proud of them for not whimping out and actually showing the tragic result that is far too often the likely outcome of something like this.
I doubt it had anything to do with the actor having other commitments - he's hardly well-known enough and if they simply wanted him off the show they could easily have shipped him off to a college interstate or to visit an Aunty or something.
Good writers have stories planned a long way ahead and I'd say that's what happened here. It's sad to see the actor go but I think they did a superb job in this story line. |

It was a shock, but, people live and people die in the world of television series. Maybe he had other work commitments. very good and striking episode though eh.

I was really shocked by this episode, why did the script writers feel the need to kill him, we had only every seen him a handful of times since the show started & if they no longer wanted him to be in it they could easily have just shown' Bernice' at work & he would not have been missed but to kill him, I just think it was not necessary ;(

I think the person who played the badie was Simon Stone. At least according to this website it is.

Whoever that was acting the part of the bad guy did a fantastic job. He didn't overplay it and even managed to evoke a feeling of ordinariness and humanity about the character at times - even though he was being quite insanely homicidal. Wonderful - who was that actor anyway??

I agree with all the comments so far. What an absolutely brilliant australian drama. It was a truly heartbreaking episode - Noni (Bernice) was fabulous as were all the other regulars...even the criminal!

I just called Sydney H/O and they put in a request for me to have it repeated, you need to call 02 8777 7777. The more requests the more likely they will replay it.

If Noni doesn't win an award for her performance tonight, then no one should ever win anything. She was simply breathtaking tonight. Heart breaking and breathtaking.
