Yay! I cant wait for this to return - tho it wont be the same without Daniel. I hope they replace him with someone equally brilliant and a fresh face in aussie tv like daniel - not someone who's already been in every aussie production ever produced.

monica - I hope our Aussie industry doesn't "aspire" to be like American shows - they don't need to and half the problem with a lot of the stuff we produce comes from us trying to be like the US. I prefer Australia to be original and keep it's own uniqueness and flavour, even if it doesn't always work.

I love both Castle and Bones but Castle is really just a copy of Bones - it follows exactly the same formula with just enough changes to make it seem different. We don't need any more Bones clones.

The Mentalist has been renewed for another season here in the states and has been moved to a different night. Usually a bad thing, but our CBS network is trying to create a block of great drama.

Simon Baker is very good. Here in the States there are a number of actors from other countries who do outstanding US characters. I had no idea that Anna Torv, Poppy Montgomery, John Noble, and Anthony LaPaglia weren't born and breed here (where I am)!

Unfortunately, Without a Trace has been cancelled. I'll miss that show.

And Daniel MacPherson is leaving CH?! Very disappointing. His character has a good range in the team. None of them are really "me too" clones. All of them have varied personalities yet still gel well with the rest.

And now... I'm waiting for the next episode.

It's being filmed right now outside my work! So I'm sure the show is doing well.

This is the only crime show made in australia that i will watch. I tried to get into Underbelly but it didnt appeal to me. A guy gets shot in the neck and all of a sudden hes off running after the guy who shot him lol

Violence doesnt do it for me.

Hey, million zillion thanks for replying. I live in South America and view the series via "non-sanctus" means.... You know.... I download! but I am so holy stuck on it, that I will die when it stops and all this talk of it not continuing is very very sad. This is excellent. I also love Underbelly. So I am almost a covert to the Aussie Productions...

Re:What, no City Homicide any more? Reply to this message
i am really saddened by the fact that there is not going to be any more city homicide at this point, it is such a shame to lose this program, i hope they do air the last season that has been in production, it will be a shame to see daniel macpherson leave also, but i wish him well to bigger and better things, hope the don't write hm out of the story line altogether. I was hanging last time they went into off season, cause there was so much garbage on....City Homicide forever!!!!

Re:What, no City Homicide any more? Reply to this message
Yep, it was great last night. I loved the interplay between the two different murder enquiries. Well directed and some very clever, unpredictable plot twists.

Sadly I just read Daniel McPherson is quitting and heading off to the US - can't blame him and it's great he has new opportunities opening up, but he is one of the best in the show.... He'll be hard to replace.

Next weeks ep looks like a scorcher!

s h e i l a, agreed, it's getting more and more interesting, especially the Bernice storyline. Going to be a heart stopper next week I reckon, with her son kidnapped. Noni's showing her skills now, that's for sure - as well as the rest of the cast.

Re:What, no City Homicide any more? Reply to this message
A third season is already in production, so no, it has not been cancelled.

The move to Sunday has seen a drop of around 300,000 viewers, which isn't too good. But Sunday is/was Seven's weakest night ratings wise, a night they are now comprehensively winning thanks to City Homicide. It is also winning it's timeslot against CSI and So You Think You Can Dance.

I'd say it is safe for a while yet, though we may see those purse strings tightened, and the rumoured 600k production costs per episode cut.

Re:What, no City Homicide any more? Reply to this message
I guess it comes down to economics and business. After all, City Homicide is a product. You need advertising sponsors to cover production costs. In turn the sponsors need to know people are watching, especially at this time when many sponsors are busy sacking their own employees or reducing their hours etc. It doesn't mean that City Homicide aint a bad product. But the free to air TV industry is no different from any other business. Basically its the bang for your advertising bucks that counts.
