I think so but not 100% sure, there have been a few domestic abuse couples over the years but that guy took the abuse througout every episode to the extreme. I really hope though that her friends and family watched that with her and she learnt that treatement by him throughout the race (and one would assume in their day to day life) wasn't right or normal and got the support from them to leave him. The US divorce courts would have only needed to be shown that Berlin scene to get her out of that marriage with her share of their assets to survive.

There was one episode a few seasons ago, I don't know which season or what the episode was but there was a wussy, curly black haired guy who was really into the verbal domestic violence with his wife and after running for the mat at the Brandenberg Gate in Berlin he started really abusing her for not leaving their bags a fair distance back on the road and she burst into tears. She was very upset and and the team that beat them to the mat was consoling her while Curly was going on to Phil about about how she always lets him down and Phil interupted his self righteous speech and told him you need to go apologise to your wife, no you need to go over there and talk to your wife. I can't recall anything heavier than that confrontation wise occuring with Phil on The Amazing Race.

I can't remember his name but it was the musclebound lawyer. I agree that it was an unnecessary beat up and you have to wonder why they did it.

yeah it was just a play "challenge" where he said more or less "I'll wrestle you right here right now" and the host declined with a grin!
It annoys me that they do that "beat up" stuff - there's no need for it. The ep was good anyway |

Last night's episode was advertised as having a contestant picking a fight with the host, but really it wasnt anything like a fight at all, just the contestant reacting to a joke phil made. It is amazing how many programmes do this now, advertise something that really isnt much at all and turn it into this big drama. Whenever you see advertising like that now , you can always bet that it will amount to nothing!
