I think MRU was the beginning of the end - it's a poor (and very expensive) attempt to improve the show. AS works as a soap opera in a medical setting, not a hardcore medical tv show.
I hope it doesn't end, but if it continues on the way it has been going this season, (except for the last 2-3 episodes) it's doomed. |

All Saints is rating higher than Home and Away... that should be the first to go.
And they have a bigger cast, so they would have to pay their cast more. |

| If All Saints ever was going to be axed I'd personally fly myself to Sydney and tie myself to the building in protest and I am sure I'd have a lot of followers doing the same! |

| Yeah I like Rafters - I actually think it's better/more consistently written than AS - but I think it won't take much to completely wreck the cast dynamic, it's not a show that gives you the opportunity for a revolving cast. Thing is, the networks only need about 3h of scripted Aus shows/week (I assume that changes in non-ratings period) and AS is more expensive than rafters or City Homicide (or Thank God, for that matter, which for some reason constitutes 'scripted drama') so from a financial perspective, i can understand why they'd axe the most expensive of the shows. |

If money is the issue, ditch the Medical Response Unit. That is what is so expensive. As the ratings show, All Saints was doing just fine without it.
And on Rafters, one or two members can be replaced, for example with cousins or other relatives, but if all the young cast gradually left (which I think they will eventually as the show becomes more popular, though I think Erik and Rebecca are really committed to the show), then there would be issues. If someone left, Chrissie could always be kicked out her house/flat and forced to move in with them. |

| I also think that one of the reasons for the decline in All Saints' ratings is the fact that they keep changing it's timeslot. Obviously I would prefer it to be at 8.30 but I'd rather it be permanently moved it to 9.30 than have it keep changing around all the time. |

I think Channel 7 would be foolish to axe All Saints in order to pour money into Packed to the Rafters.
I realise Rafters is getting great ratings, but remember how popular Always Greener was when it first started? And then 12 months later it was gone.
I don't mind Rafters but I think that because it's not really about anything (eg medical/police etc) they will run out of storylines very quickly. It would also be difficult if one of the main characters left the show - you can't just replace a family member as easily as you can a doctor or nurse. |

| I'd say AS being axed is a likely scenario at this point. Unless the producers and the network can majorly remedy the problems they say the show has, its ratings will continue to decline. |

Well it doesn't say its being axed for good... it said its "facing" being axed.
So its probably just another rumour. |

Reading this mornings Sunday Telegraph and came across this:
All Saints to finish
The popular Seven Network series, All Saints is facing the axe, industry sources say.
A network source said that despite a national audience of more then one million fans a week, the shows writers had been told production on the long-running medical drama would halt after this series.
Cost-cutting was cited for this move
The news comes a month after it was reported that All Saints would avoid the chop by reducing the number of episodes made each series from 40 to between 22 and 28.
Filming on this years series will now end in August, rather then November.
STUFF CHANNEL 7!! They put on annoying shows like home and away and then axe this. Its the only thing I actually watch on tv nowadays. |
