I've just recently started watching AS...
I love it and look forward to each episode.
Although it is not intellectual, it serves a purpose by entertaining and giving us an hour to just relax. It's just fluff...everyone needs a little fluff in their life each day.
I remember watching my favorite soap operas in America when my kids were little...I would watch my show while the guys were napping...they started watching with me during their summer breaks when they were teenagers...on many college campuses in the US, students watch soap operas at lunch time in the student unions...when the show gets particularly interesting you could hear a pin drop... |

It might not be accurate, but so what. It's a good show and fun to watch. But, I'm not sure if anyone else remembers, a few years ago a girl saved a life or her own (i don't remember completely) after she watched all saints as she was faced with the same situation. I mean, it's not like the show is completely out there! It would just become stupid.
But that's just my opinion. :) |

I work in the medical area (teaching medical students) and I don't think the show loses that much support from medically trained people. In fact, many watch it because they wish life was really that exciting (and simple) for the staff of an Emergency facility.....on AS they even have time for "a bit on the side".
Sure, in reality Emergency Services would probably show up first etc, but that doesn't make exciting TV - it's much better TV to have Mike or Steve in the dangerous position than some unknown ES guy.
Leave the "real stuff" to shows like RPA and Triple Zero Hero's. |

Maybe there was a reason they couldn't turn up first. MRU were called in, and they got there straight away because they weren't doing anything. Maybe the search and rescue people were already at another job and had to finish that off first?
Are you a medical professional? |

| Well I not normally picky but it would be easier to swallow if Emergency services were there first and then the MRU turn up.. even I scoffed the other night. Otherwise I like all saints - just now and again they could make outdoor scenes more realistic. The show looses a lot of audience support - anyone associated with medical practices - because of this. |

| I doubt anyone watches AS for a dose of medical reality and medical lessons. If that's what you want, read Gray's Anatomy and watch RPA....mind you, I've seen some dodgy stuff on RPA too. |

I believe what they say about illnesses, conditions and such. I think that is fact.
But I probably wouldn't follow any of the emergency procedure stuff. |

| also if everyone believed what happens on tv is real and accurate lots of other shows would be worst off that all saints! what about house or grays they are even more unrealistic! if you don't like the way the show is put out don't watch it! the show is the entertain people and not to be a complete factual show . otherwise it would be completely boring!! |

| agree with you nowhere. If I happened to be doing a medical degree, I certainly wouldn't watch tv shows for information! Absolutely ridiculous that people expect 200% accuracy in these entertaining shows. |

'but they can't do the basics and put them on oxygen or mange the pain'
I saw the oxygen mask on the guy with too much iron in his blood today, and they always seem to be giving morphine to patients.
If you don't like it, don't watch it. By the way, are you speaking from experience? I think that the audience doesn't watch the show to learn all the small medical facts...if they do, well they are pretty stupid. Most people would also know that shows like this are never 100% accurate. |

it's tv drama, if they have to sacrifice reality for greater enertainment value they should, as long as it's not too rediculous.
if the public are stupid enough to take what they see on tv for truth it is not all saint's problem. |

All saints is unreal, the things that happen on there, just doesn't happen in real life. Doctors don't turn up until after all the emergency services arrive,if the doctors go at all, veiwers get the wrong impressions and have expectations that can not be fulfilled in real life.
Jo on the MRU can't be a paramedic and be on the MRU, it is two different things, the public sees the word paramedic as an ambulance officer but in the MRU jo is a paramedic, I don't think that could happen, not only that the patient care, isnt that great they are all quick to canulate or shock a patient but they can't do the basics and put them on oxygen or mange the pain, yes it maybe a tv show but the public that don't know any medical knowledge would expect that, you would be surprised at what people wont to do, if you are going to show series like all saints i think some more research should be done to provide more understanding to the public of what happens at car accidents and things like that.
The ambulance officers do a great job, but showing shows like all saints that have the wrong information about things, the public get it wrong because of this show and it makes their job harder to be able to deal with the problems faced, they already have a hard enough job trying to deal with all the drug and alcohol abuse and everything else, they don't need any more pressure from the public because a TV producer can't get the right facts. |
