I did wonder if 'Ferratuss" was a play on the word "Veritas, Roman for truth, virtue etc. and some wasted elusive spunk hiding in a well or something!
Truth is elusive, even when we think we speak it at times. So much more is in the interpretation as demonstrated by the various translations of books about virtue and truth!

The Draft does affect this type of approach and with such a plethora of talent in WA U18s etc. the State and the Local Comp's, Team's, Clubs and Communities will be denied many of them and their genes in times to come. I recall one of the protagonists arguments before S.O.O. that anyhow, with the Western Goldrush, many "Victorian" talents were lost to the West, so, reality was that the VFL really "owned" them anyhow. Ambivalent as I am in argument I can see that that is no less possible to see than that all Popes are Godlike throughout history. No blasphemy or offence meant.
It is a good argument to put, the title of the thread, but, it has always been that if a youngster debuts brilliantly, the Coach etc. is a genius. I think Western Force's O'Connor who "bumped" Tuqiri to raised eyebrows and ran in a hatrick of trys on debut is a fair recent example.
I feel for Chad Fletcher etc. because I know, and am learning more each day at 57 years, that the body is a "bl00dy" thing that disobeys the ambitions and desire!
I also know that the "Team" at West Coast genuinely have the Club's best interests at heart mate.

fair point wanton ,plus draft makes this sort of plan work.ijust think we can all get a bit to smart and try to play the system with little regard to ethics, and to my way of thinking smarties always come unstuck.coaches like voss and craig are the most obvious exceptions, and i say more power to them. even if vossie stole a few of my ideas to put in his articles last year

GTG to bed,s o brief it is. Sounding more & more like the Nat's to be let loose on Saturday in number 9....significant?
Last weekend, hopefully of no footy, followed by 4 weeks, when an overdose is barely enough, it is good night, or day from me, Night shift.... let the games begin.

Was a good game to watch when the Eagles took on the Cats. The game opened up in parts, the home team was not blown off the park by the best EVER team and things seem to be heading in the right direction for the West Coasters.

Enjoyed the game Eagles, keep up the good work and you'll receive more positive posts from me.

No points but well done.

Not really sure what happened today Tuss but, seems as though the "kids" can play a bit.
It is difficult to ignore that as a "kid" in Country Vic. many of us played Midgets & Juniors, sometimes even 2's as well, on the same weekend because the town Population was small and the rest were Farmers & sons from the District. We always got belted in the Juniors (U19s) because the average age was about 15-16 against the larger towns 17-20 year olds. Incredibly enough, the 2's and especially the Seniors were always top 4 or Premiers. The "roughing up" playing bigger, older and smarter developed fast track development. As long as it was managed well with rotations, few serious injuries resulted and some pretty handy Footballers were developed.
This thing at West Coast is really a similar thing at a much bigger and Professional level. The biggest risk is some cynical thug might seriously injure a bright young talent but, these guys are superbly fit, if lacking the mature conditioning. Let's face it, they all have to do it over a few years. Not everyone arrives as a Jacko, Big "Q" or a Troy Wilson.
I reckon stick with the plan, at least they have one. Having followed them since 1987, I doubt that a few setbacks will stop me going or watching, just as we did watching the Matera's, Kemp, Chris Mainwaring, Woosh learn in the "School of hard knocks", it's character forming and makes for an incredible strong team bond as success comes.
Anyhow, I reckon they put their best 22, week by week, on the Park. Sometimes the omissions, like Kennedy, Jamie Mc. etc. might be to protect them or because they are carrying something.

Yes, well, freedom of expression and all that fuss Tuss. I will keep an open mind about the likelihood of a "Troll" fishing for a bite, else I could have said nice Freo FeralToss ! Cost the Dons !!?? Not sure where that is going, they seem to be tracking OK, with a "youth" policy, and some fairly scrawny they are as well. Dees in the same boat mate!
That 5 very winnables got away in Brisbane, Sydney, Tassie & 2 at Subi, sure is possible to blame immature bodies, minds and lack of poise, but, that's football really. Kerr gets rubbed for doing what Bazz and Tazz ( Tarrant) etc. get away with, discrimination, systematic is the usual bellow, but, that's Footy as well. Cost them in Brizzi when the "Prancing Pansies" got their panties in a twist blowing whistles and preening "look at me, look at me." Reckon Geish could replace Murphy at the Aussie Ballet if his charges are anything to go by. But I digress, drift off subject.
The Cattle we have, is the Cattle we have. You build Premierships, not buy them, that's the Victorian way. Too much W.A. Talent heads East and Nth East as it is. The Crowie U18's can tell you how good the W.A. boys are!
Patience is a virtue, just as foreplay makes it a better consummation Tx Bruce! Regard it as Tantric Football, look at the raptures of the Swans when they broke the Drought, same for the St's when Big Karl was there!

a place in any team must be earnt on merit.forget that sheedy *** of blooding youth for youth sake .how many grand finals did that philosophy cost the donsanyway.no the way to go wc is to build on what you have got and if the kids are good enough they will force thier way in.also where are the big bodies of old ,get those kids in the gym
