Hear, Hear GT, you really are just a softy aren't you, LOL. And a Gent to boot. You sure you're not from the Kimberlys, unpolished mate ;-)
First you give away a ticket to a rare Footy Match in Albany, then you state the obvious with care and conviction. I for one was not that surprised when the Juddernaut upped stumps, playing on, in a run with role, with a jacked crotch is a B...d, I know from my limited experiences, until I learnt to manage pre-season and the first few games got the dreaded groin groan! Couldn't imagine how at the pace they move, turn and kick, you can concentrate and play freely expected a more serious tear resulting!
Anyhoo, he should be spelled, poor plugger will end up like Gallilee trying to catch Gunsynd I reckon! |

There is no way that Glass deserves anything more than appreciation and praise.
Take a break Darren, let Woosha continue to experiment, get ya body back to 100% ready for next season when you have NN down at Subi. |

Well GT, for some of us, seeing an ex Dampier Lad become Captain of W.A.'s most succesful ( to date anyhow ) AFL Clubs would be a dream come true going back to 1977-78, when Centrals combined with "that" other rabble to form the Dampier Sharks in the NPFL. Those were the days, before Woodside, before the Brothels, the Army and a still pristine Archipelago!
I don't have a problem with that, nor the expression of opinion, just see the gray at times, is not all Black & White! Darren Glass is not deserving of being bagged because Danny Kerr has problems, West Coast are lost and there are some extraordinary structural evolutions taking place. Someone has to cop the heat and I think it is reasonable to spare Cox for a year or two until they turn the corner.
I can remember Marshy, behind the stumps, Gilly, behind the stumps, being overlooked as Skippers, it is unusual for a backstopper to Captain a team that is essentially run by an Engine in the middle and around the ground. Captains that follow the ball have the widest influence! |

I agree with that wanton but also reckon that Dean Cox should be your Captain for next season. He has shown all the leadership qualities on the field, is a team player who like Glass has a good level head on those shoulders.
Not my team but I'd say Cox for Captain too. |

Whilst it is not uncommon for a dour and reliable performer to be nominated Captain, perception sometimes is, that your best player, most inspirational performer is Captain.
Darren Glass should be rested now. He has been managing serious nagging injury all year. In that he has and still tries to lead from the front, at training, in meetings, on the field, is not always seen in effect on the stats sheets. Dean Cox's time will come without doubt.
For the 4-5 years that it took to achieve a Premiership in 2006, Darren Glass was part of, and at times, the absolute cement that grew one of the leakiest defenses into one of the best rebounding, attacking in the business. It is easy to overlook that. Despite all the critiscism he and Adam Hunter have copped as youngsters, learning a trade under the blow torch of public scrutiny and scorn, they stuck it out and created a fine group of rebounding defenders. That some tatters appears is not unlike those you would expect in the 12th round of a heavyweight fight. The body gets tired and bruised. He drags the frame out week after week, running off the soreness simply because, there isn't another ready yet to step up. Frankly, they tried Matt Spangher, it didn't work as well as hoped, they should persist, but, that risks denting his confidence.
Darren might not have the body right but, his experience reads the play well, directs the traffic and he still runs the ball out occassionally as well. He has the smarts to stop the Halls, Browns etc. really tearing holes in a "learning" group that has been in and out through injury and experimentation. Easily missed are the unrecorded efforts! |

What a poor choice by the Eagles, when Cox is clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in the leadership dept..
Glass has been hardly inspirational this season, had the chance to show his qualities on the Kerr issue but it was Dean Cox who confronted Daniel on the ground and made it clear publicly that such behaviour is unacceptable...
Seriously where has Glass been all this season and at best their should be two captains at the club next season... |
