what if carlton doesn`t want cuzz. he has no match practice and probably as fat as a bun. it would take too long for him to reach peak fitness again, besides we have all ready got one guy on notice, why would we want another?
the kids we have will turn out ok as you guys will see this weekend. |

so when will Cox go to Carlton ...... it appears all the rumours are suggesting that carlton will end up with the eagles midfield.
They might as well have fletcher and Seaby as well then |

| I've heard the rumours about Kerr going to Carlton, but he's contracted till the end of 09 and said last week he'd like to be an Eagle for life, but nobody really knows what's going on besides the players and the inner sanctum I suppose. Would be a huge loss for the eagles if he did go and I'd reckon he'd be on a good wicket atm with Cuz and Judd gone. |

He is only departing for a couple of weeks . have not heard that rumour but feel like a mushroom when it comes to player exchange.
I heard Straker was reported last week. What was that for? |

| Some people are saying that Kerr could well be joining Judd at Carlton soon. You guys would know a fair bit about this, and it'd be good to get another point of view. How much truth is there in this (Kerr's departure)? |

Well, Rafa may be a whinge, but he's the best manager in Europe alongside Carlo Ancelotti.
Anyway, Kerr should get back on track after this. He's a great player and his team needs him. |

Yeah well, I guess a "brainfade" was inevitable! It was not unlike Michael Ballack's tolerated treatment of Ronaldo last night. Chelsea were well up for a physical challenge, as Rafa, the whinge, Benitez said, Chelsea are expert at dishing & diving!
Like Ron, Kerr suffers from "rep!" |

I don't think it's as easy as saying that our true nature is being revealed since Cousins is 'no more' and Judd departed for Carlton. It is very true, indeed, that we lost perhaps our greatest ever two players, but we also lost other experienced Premiership players (e.g. Chick & R. Jones).
Last year, we dealt with way too many important injuries, a toxic club culture and the home & away season. We managed to win 15 and lose 7 after 22 rounds, but in all honesty, we overachieved considering what we went through. We went too hard and, consequently, by the end of the year, we were burnt out.
Early in the year, we had to really make sense of the big changes that happened to the club. Our midfield changed dramatically. I'm not necessarily talking about Cousins and Judd here. Daniel Kerr is now a highly respected player in the AFL, and gets tagged heavily every week. Players like Fletcher aren't the same anymore, and Braun hasn't really been fit. I could keep going, but you probably get the picture.
I think that Worsfold is surprised at the way his troops have really struggled to perform this year -- it's the truth. This has given him the opportunity to relax a bit more and it has allowed him to concentrate on other objectives. I think that we'll see him field quite a number of young players this season to get them ready for next year. |

From finalists last year to this, something doesn't add up.
Over achieving last few years, Judd and Cuz maybe lifting the team as it normally does having greats in your team. Maybe some others getting found out without these 2 there? |

| From what I gather, is a work in progress, if unstated, unlike Wallace. They may hit a formula B4 the season ends, else, is all good. To build a house, is one brick at a time. To eat an Elephant, 1 bite at a time, to eat... better quit before I'm a head! LOL |

wanton,
Didn't see the whole game mainly the 1st half but what I saw:
Kennedy played really well and McKinley again. What I can't understand is Woosha rotating the forwards, ffs, keep the key position players there for the whole game and let some cohesion develop. Seems we may have the cattle up front, but no symetry to to speak.
Wirra was about our best IMO, Embley starting to get some run and Masten good also. Don't think we're that bad atm, down on confidence and self belief. |

So here it is, @n@c day, a Roccaless Pies are finding more from Medhurst than Freo found after the Wizz wizzed on his parade there!
It is much to do with balance and the Red Hot striped racers from Windy Hill are showing West Coast, it is really about the mix! It is gr8 to see McKinley leading from the front for the more experienced Eagles, Wirr's goal was a masterpiece of "Power" and will go a long way towards an emerging belief. Even if the improved 2nd 1/2 was more about the Porta Potties stepping off the gas, it might well open up the skies that limited the Flight for the Eaglets.
It may well prove a case of "Who let the Dogs out!?" on Saturday night but, there is a chance that West Coast may well yet get the Jump on the "Bullies" and in a classic smash & grab, set up a season of improvement by development.
I admit, on form, most unlikely, like Lotto though, sometimes the marbles do drop! I can but cross everything and hope, with no TV and limited news, back at sea, I will rely on the wise observations of KO, GT, Foges, Kinger etc. to fill me in as to whether or not, this is the season of learning to knit instead!? |

wanton,
not a good game to watch. I personally thought the umpiring was cr@p, but would've had no bearing on the game so probably a mute point.
Missed Priddis, which is saying a lot. McKinley kicked 4 in a losing side from not many oppurtunities.
Not many could hold their heads up, maybe only Cox, McKinley and Waters for having a go at grub hall at 1/4 time. Expected more Eagles to have a go at him, especially Glass as captain. Cox should have that mantle IMO.
Spangher showed a bit, including some aggression ehich has been lacking for a few seasons now. A few more blow outs to come me thinks. |

Thanx people. Yeah, well seems to have gone to script. No-one mentioned Braun, I see he had a few possies so, hopefully that Braun / Embley theory wasn't to off the mark, is needed to take advantage of height in the fwd 50m.
Would not have been surprised to see Kerr changed for Masten or McNamara B4 the start so, to some extent relieved because apparently he blew the doors off in the 1st Qtr which set up this result.
Knew West Coast would struggle with a fit JB, Ad(o(k and McGrath going missing made it less damaging. Bradshaw did well so I guess the Lynch-Seaby pronged attack didn't happen. Had a pretty good idea Jaymie Graham would have to go back. If the big Q had a little more pace he might have made a CHB but, he doesn't and Hunter does pretty well as a makeshift! Hoped Graham would release him fwd. He was a gr8 key fwd as a youngster in Bunbury.
They still have Notte, who needs to fill out a bit, Kennedy, who was a tad off fit and Masten, McNamara, Ebert all capable with Hurn and Butler of filling the void in the midfield. Will be interesting to watch the season unfold and who goes where!
Anyhow, thanx again for the views, access is getting tighter everyday, I guess that's because we don't like GeeDubya! |

| We were beaten well done west coast but the lions stuck to you and look like they might have won if they were not a player down for the whole game just to tired in the last 7 minutes when it was up for grabs....Anyway i have a little egg on my face after the comments i made leading up to the game good luck for the rest of the season and may the best side win if we face off in the finals. |

OK, here it is from my perspective:
Some worrying signs when Kerr is off the ground or being tagged, nobody else seems to be able to win tha hard ball and we suffer. Some sloppy handling after 1/4 time, I know it's only the first round but we lacked some polish with our disposal (Priddis can't handball)
Graham did a good job on Bradshaw, Glass spent time off the ground for whatever reasons and J. Brown and S.Black were awesome.
LeCras is very goal hungry and seems very Bartlett like, copped a serve from Fletcher tonight. Embley went missing big time as did Staker again.
Hurn and Waters were very good as was Kerr and Cox. |
