| I explain to people who do not understand the rivaly,,this way.. When male babies are born in Australia,,they are stamped on the forehead with a Ford or Holden badge..And never the two will change !! We have many here,,where I think the stamp used indelible ink !! |

I never heard of anyone ever hating D.Johnson because he drove a Ford. And Craig Lowndes has been getting a great reception at Bathurst for his wins in a Ford. The public is very fickle and will change camp at the drop of a hat. I have seen the crowd at Oran Park cheering Allan Moffat on as he was in the lead... and booing him at the very second his car broke down. It's funny really, considering that Moffat was Canadian not Amerian. The most hate i have seen was by Holden fans was when Craig Lowndes and Russell Ingall both changed teams to the blue side. I could not believe some of the verbal diarrhea comming out of these so called racing fans whether watching the racing, in the pits while these drivers signed autographs or live on stage at 'V8 Superstars'. I how these drivers were seen as heart and soul of Holden racing. But some people just go to far. On the flip side i have seen true racing fans with HRT gear on lining up to get Craigs autograph even back in his early days with Gibson Racing AU Falcon. |

| I would say that the genesis started when Ford introduced the Falcon,,and they were racing in the old 500 at Phillip Island.. There were Fords before that,,Len Lukey and Screachy Beechey in Customlines..There were some Zephyrs racing as well.. Norm Beechey and Brian Muir in S4 Holdens against the Cortina GT's,,GT500's and the Lotus Twin Cam variety would be to first time that I could remember people taking sides.. So I would place it back in 1964.. The Neptune Trident team !! They were great days..Norm in the S4,Jimmy McKeon in the Twin Cam,,and Peter "Skinny"Manton in the 1310 Mini Cooper S..Brian Foley and Skinny had some great dices in the Coopers..Foles always reckoned that Skinny had a weight advantage.. Incidentally,,the "Horsepower" Hotel near Central in Sydney was named because of Peter Malloy..We used to drink there on Friday nights..Foles,,Malloy and Laurie Stewart all worked at P.R Williams,the BMC dealers..The more pizzed Peter became,,the more horsepower he was getting out of the Cooper..Actually,,I think the best we saw out of a 1310 in those days was 128 hp..Enough for the Coopers to give the Mustangs a towell up in the wet.. |

There are a small amount of faithfull supporters... but the general public as a whole does not really care all that much if it is an Holden or a Ford winning the race. For my part... I always did barrack for the driver. Not the car. Because at the end of the day... if you are a team owner like Moffat, Brock, Johnson and Perkins were... it was the preparation that those guys did put in the car which did win the race. And win or lose... there was nobody who had a better Ford than Allan Moffat in the seventies. |

| How fast do you think a 427 Billett Alloy Big Block,with Alloy heads and a 6spd manual GB goes???? Put in a XP Coupe shell and the whole package only weighs 1590kg with over 750 hp. The 9" is a 2.75 and at 160kmph its in 6th gear pulling 3000rpm.Not bad since it will redline at 8200rpm. |

| Why remove the 320-330km ?? If you want the truth, it is really 180-195 top speed down Conrod. MILES PER HOUR. Yep,its a genuine"how can we make it faster"car. |

| Come on, fair go about Holden and Daewoo. The VE Commodore, as I understand, has some bits that come from China, though no major mechanical stuff. I don't like it that the Barina Hatch (the sedan is a different car), Viva, Epica, and Captiva are Korean, but the Astra is an Opel car (made in Germany?), and the Rodeo is an Isuzu. Anyway, we buy cars off them and sell Commodores to the Middle East, New Zealand, and the USA. Good luck to Ford as well, with it's Focus and Fiesta production beginning soon - I'd like to see a strong and decent (ie Surviving on its own two feet without tariffs) local automotive industry, with Holden, Toyota, and Ford (Mitsubishsi looks like a lost cause). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
