Well Zedbrat half your dream finals has gone bye byes..and Sharapova has bees sent packing back home by Safina. In all honesty she shouldn't have even gotten this far and she and Jancovic have already been called for delaying tactics.
Maybe this redult bods well for the rest of us who favour Nadal over the Princess |

| that is the beauty of all of this we each have our own thoughts. For me I really think Ivanovic will take the crown. She deserves it after missing out on the finals last year |

Hey kraavitz,
I saw that Roger picked up his tempo in that match and it really looked like the Federer we have been seeing over the last 4 years. I haven't had a chance to see what he was like in his last match. Was it much of the same? I've only been able to look at the stats and they show that it looked like he was getting back to his best again. Let's hope he just keeps getting better as the tournament goes on. |

Couldn't get into the RF match but was lucky to meet some people at unch who said they had to leave after the second et at the latest and if I met them at the exit they ould give me their tickets so got to see the final set.
To pass the time went and watched the Davydenko/Lujubicic match. Anohr player in his fading years at top level pulling out all he strings and playing like I haen't seen him play in ages. I am not a ND fan so the reult sat very well with me.
RF is out of this world to watch awesore is not a strong enough word to describe him. mercurial magical...whatever. It was a privilage to see the master at work. |

| Monfils match was good and I really began to wonder if he would be to close the match out. He is such and a performer on court and had the ful crowd support. But he got through to the R16 and another frenchman through |

Did't get to see the Pretender's agme as I opted to watch Ginepri. I thought Fererr would prevail as I said b4 so it wasnt a suprise. LH had way too many unforced errors. I did see alot on the large screen inbetween matches on the otside courst.
Ginepri was a suprise and played as well as I have seen him since b4 his injuries and glad I watched that match
Sorry Statsy. But LH brought the name of Pretender to the fore with his stupid commenst of he there to take Nadals title or words to the effect. Hence he was called the pretender. |

| kraavitz, what can you tell me about Viktoria Azarenka. I have only seen her playing double at the AO, but she has posted some very postive results so far at this tournament, and at the moment is wiping the floor with Schiavone, who is no slouch on clay. |

On the women's side, I would like to see Jankovic vs Sharapova in the final as I am curious to see if who would beat the other in the stakes of preening, games-woman-ship, taking injury time outs, and forever to serve. Could end up being the first ever night final at the French ;-)
Seriously now, after Serena's loss, I would have to consider the best bet would be Ana Ivanovic for the women's title. She has a way better clay court game that Sharapova, appears mentally stronger than Jelena - and is the smarter player of the two. Radwanska may have her best chance for at least a SF, however a bit hard to see anyone outside of the first three mentioned as really coming through.
Would love to be proven wrong and see a surprise winner for the women's title. |

Hewitt is not a contender; therefore, he is a pretender.
Men's draw is shaping up nicely as week one draws to an end. Barring a major major upset somewhere, it will be Djokovic v Nadal in the bottom half, and Federer v somebody in the top. That somebody will likely be either Ferrer or Davydenko.
Either way, the semis should be great matches, but I'm playing safe and sticking with Rafa to make it four in a row.
Women's draw, both Williamses are out on the same day which I don't have a problem with at all. Still hoping either Jankovic or Ivanovic can get through for their first GS. |

| gr....are yu calling LH a pretender? We were just starting to get on too. If he beats Ferrer it will be massive, but I don't think in anyway he is a pretender. He has a better record there then a lot of other top name players.....and I am putting money on, seeing he is up against all odds. |

Hi Len.
yes the RF match was vinage Roger. That second and third sets were great. Lots of net play at long last.
That should put those doubters at rest. He played to perfection. As the comentator said here...he came out firing as he didn't like having a set taken from him but a low ranked player. Watever it was it was so good to watch.
Am off on the eurorail later ...can't wait to see some live tennis and have gotten some centre court tickets. Eat your heart out.
As for the Prentender he wasn't really pushed but tomorrow with Ferrer been so hot right now it will be a different tale. I say Ferrer. He absolutely blitzed Santoro 0 1 & 0. |

I saw whatever part of the Federer / Montanes match last night. Incredible for a couple of reasons. The first set was tight with Montanes playing agressive tennis, Federer somewhat within himself and no doubt crusing along without much panic. After dropping that first set, there is no doubting he was not happy with himself and then ramped it up about four gears - this seriously made Montanes agression (which remained the in the early 2nd set) - look tame and very ordinary. Roger broke that guys will in the space of four games. The 6-1, 6-0 sets that followed were sublime (well at least to 6-1, 4-0) until fox cut away.
This is how good Roger can be and am just so astounded by the level in which he picked up his game. Gone were the huge number of unforced errors; in was bigger, harder, bolder hitting that was landing in. If there is a reply on at any time, I suggest anyone to watch it.
Safin / Davydenko was great for the first set. Almost like Marat of old there. The more and more I have watched Nikolay this year, the more I am liking his style. A shame he is so talented and tainted by scandal; and so talented without a major. That said, on any given day I would pay for Roger vs Marat - at their peaks - over, and over, and over again. |
