sob sob (I am muy sad)

Ah well, Nadal didn't play so good and Davydenko played very well indeed - both players had a fantastic week to get to the end. The quality of tennis has been brilliant and the competition has been really fierce, we've seen some great matches.

Now I will wait for Monte Carlo and hopefully Nadal can defend his title to win his first for the year.

Been nice chatting with you grsydney and kraavitz about tennis. Until Monte Carlo, au revoir....

Maybe someone can start a Monte Carlo thread closer to the time? Hey, you reckon 'ole Roger will take Estoril? Novak isn't going to defend his title Roger will really need to get one in quick before long...

Two great finals and two good results. Serina had to get there with 7 match points. but did in the end. Whata tournament shes' had the scalps of Henin, Jancovic and kuznetsova.

As for Davydenko I have jjust finished watching a resisited the urge to look up the rresults. He played the game of his life. As for been a fan I am like you Kraavitz. but it was a good result for him

Wow, what a match by Nikolay and what a clinical dismantling of Rafa. Makes me wonder if poor Rafa is ever due to win this tournament. An exceptional display by Nikolay today and true to his form (at least from what I saw) from round four onwards. Solid and at times blistering tennis, and very typical of his strong, counter-punching game. Am I a Nikolay convert or fan after finally really watching some of his matches? Nah. But I like him despite the controversy from 2007. Good on him and his success here. He has been the "almost-man" a number of times the semis of major tournaments, so to finally see him pick up a second Masters Series title was pretty sweet.

Overall for the tournament - some great tennis and great to see a few different champions in the past three years on the men's side. For the women, again I think a high standard tournament with a fantastic final....at least my favourite women's player came up trumps.

There's also a nice fill in the quarter finals of the Davis Cup April 11 including US/France Roddic/k & Blake against Tsonga and Gasquet

Yep it was good. Somehow I think you are right about Nadal but anything can happen on any day. ARod has got to find something ebsides his great serve, Davydenko proved that today his alround game is so much better. AR relies on that famous serve. It is the first time I can ever remember that Davydenko can smile let alone show emotion as he did with his vicory.

Well it is up early tomorrow for Serina's final which I hope she can do....5 in a row. but hey that record could be borken as well

what a fantastic match today between Rodd/ick and Davydenko. Normally Davydenko can be a bit on the dull side but he really stepped up today. Rodd/ick was in a screaming great hurry from the second he hit the court.

A lot of streaks have been broken at Miami - will Davydenko break another streak tomorrow and beat Nadal to take the title? Somehow I am not too sure if he can break that particular streak - I'm going to go with Nadal to win (of course).

Even if he Nadal doesn't take the title tomorrow, at least he'll have improved on last year's effort at this event and gained a few more points.

Vamos Rafa!

Davydenko 7/6 6/2. What a match I can't believe the standard that he played and was the clear winner 31 winners against 22. I never have been a big fan of ND but he has played at an incredible level throughout the tournament and deserved to win thsi match.

Hopefully someone will go crawl in the gutter till his man plays once more. He is so one eyed..if like the rest of us we will support whoebver wins...big difference

Re:Miami 2008 and Beyond... Reply to this message
well Davydenko has taken the first set 7/6 in a tie breaker. That should be where Roddic/k always wins and I thgink it was last year he won 16 consequentive tie breakers.

Both are player extraordinary tennis. If Davydenko can keep the standard up he might break his nil head to ehad. Records are been broken left right and centre lately.

I knew it, was sure I saw it - got this from the interview after the match.

"Q. What were you feeling? I've seen you sob?
ANDY RODD/ICK : Okay, so I sobbed a little."

Anyway, while I was glad to see Andy win, I was also disappointed to see Roger lose. He is a great player and always a pleasure to watch. So much class on and off the court! (At least he gets a few points so hasn't lost anything there). He really is one of my favourite players on the tour.

and she is dending this one as well...but my money is on Serina..and how is that weight loss??

I'm with you about Davydenko, he played brilliantly this am and I am not a fan of his.

As for our long lost lamented friend...I couldn't care less. At least he has kept out of here except for a couple of comments pages back...

Sure we have our favorites..you know mine and we all sure know his but at least we are open minded to other players achievements
