| gr i would suggest that we ignore this little blowhard even if he attacks you directly. His comments are meaningless and therefore even his direct posts are pointless. |

| Tennis players don't win singles slams when they are in their 40's.Tiger Woods is an exceptional golfer who has paced himself nicely. It is sad that blowflies such as grysydney choose to attack honest tennis fans who choose to express their opinion in a public forum. |

""Federer past it? you've gotta be kidding!!! Tiger Woods doesn't have to win every tournament to be considered the greatest of the modern era""
Bear it in your mind. Tennis and Golf are totally different games. Tennis involves forceful attacks, returns, constant movements and mind readings. Do you think that Golf has all this to beat the opponents? It only has consistancy, skills and focus but not to worry about their opponent's attack or defence to their shots. No wonder Wood is still number one in his sport. There are more and more younger and agressive players coming up everyday in ATP circuit and aftering the titles. You can also compare between the number of professional golf and tennis players involved in each tournament and affiliation in their own sports. |

| I didn't start the personal abuse.Federer would have access to medical attention of a quality beyond most mere mortals comprehension and financial capabilities. He himself has stated he is over his illness.I am sure he trying to hang in there long enough to fluke another slam whilst he is still number one. Then he can hope for the grand stand countdown as he tries to equal then beat Pete Sampras's record. The Fed sees this in his mind but it not going to happen. He is passed his use by date! |

Federer past it? you've gotta be kidding!!! Tiger Woods doesn't have to win every tournament to be considered the greatest of the modern era, Federer has already done enough to be considered the best player of this decade, if not in the open era.
He will shake this bug and return to the type of form that scares everyone else on the circuit - even NJ.
To write off a champion because, for the first time since reaching the top, he has had a lean period is just plain stupid. |

Your right on the money there gr. ZB why can't you keep to the topic in the thread. It isn't about you or between you and someone. We're debating a topic in here mate.
Onto the topic.
HAS FEDERER PASSED HIS USED BY DATE?
He's a long way off that. He mentioned he had the bug early in the year but now won't say anything else other than he is at full fitness. He's not one to look for something to blame for losing. That bug he picked up around Christmas can last for up to 12 months. To maintain the level he has been playing for the past 4 or 5 years is going to be a little difficult. He's going pretty well to be making it to the semi-finals of the masters.
My money would be on him still being affected by the bug. He hasn't and won't get any rest til just after the US Open. It's the only way to cure it. The bug has affected his physical fitness. He's still pretty fit but not like last year. If he takes time off he loses his No. 1 ranking and no-one would give that up.
We have to wait and see how his season unfolds. I think he's buying his time to try and ease his way back to full fitness again. If he reaches that level again it will be look out everyone, I'M BACK!! |

Thanks grs...I haven't yet got to reading any interview transcripts of matches I am interested in. Good reading too and love Mardy's humour about the QF bye. Yeah, the mental side for him must've been tough, particularly given this is really new territory for him - i.e. finals of a major tournament, losing, then having to prep oneself a few days later for another biggie. I suppose he can only learn from this and prepare better (mentally) for the next time around.
Good to hear he wasn't physically tired as this at least justifies my comment earlier about players at this level preparing to be fit for such schedules. I don't see why not either, as at most smaller tournaments it is playing every day. IW and Miami at least have some of two day breaks.
Again, thanks for posting that. Cheers... |

Kraavitz: Here is a quote form Marty:
So physically, I feel fine,â he said. âIt's the mental part of having to turn around and come back. OK, now I'm in the first round again.
âI really feel like beating all these great players maybe I should get a bye like maybe into the quarters or something. That's obviously not the case.
âMentally it's really tough to come down from that"
Guess that says it all |
