If Blake is whshed up as you so like to say please explain how Blake and Roddong have wont exactly 11 times each on the RG clay in the last 7 years. If Blake, as you say "does not deserve the amount of attenion" then I geuss the same applies to Roddong
Big time Hendrix fan, bigger time Rory Gallagher fan.I really think that such an over applauded player such as James Blake really does not deserve the amount of discussion about his failed career.
as I stated on another thread. Quite OK to have a dislike of a player. Here I'll go further by adding it's even OK to have the freedom to express it. That's what it's all about.
Blake plays most of his matches - swinging away by whacking the ball as hard as he can - without much thought and strategy. It's no wonder the best result he has ever had was at the U.S. Open reaching one quarterfinal.
quote grsydney - "As far as clay courts and the Americans are concerned there haven't been any clay court players who have had any success for a long time".
Aren't you forgetting Jennifer Capriati winning the French in 2001?! Isn't she American?!
You do need more checking ZB. Simon, Ferrer, Davydenko, Montanes, Nalbandian Ferrero are all names and were playing in the same tournament and great clay court players
As far as clay courts and the Americans are concerned there haven't been any clay court players who have had any success for a long time. That is why I said Blake did well last week and another first round victory last night in Madrid.
To Quote Patrick McEnroe today:
"It has been a decade since Andre Agassi triumphed at Roland Garros and nearly two decades since Jim Courier won back-to-back titles in 1991-92."
No mention of John McEnroe and clay...funny that. Maybe your source has dried up.
