Hilarious. Oh boo hoo. Lleyton has a tough draw. Codswollop! If Nadal, Federer, Jokervic or Murray had the same draw it wouldnt be considered tough. The fact Hewitt is a dud ranked barely in the top 100 is what makes it tough. Hewitt sux and will do nothing this tournament.

Sure Lleyton's usual tenacity prevailed in the first set even though he lost it. It was Nalbandian's polished all-court game gave him the edge and go on to win.

Lleyton has put himself as usual under too much pressure. If he wants to return to tennis then ease back into it not try and start off with a Grand Slam when you have had so long off court

Lleyton used to be an embarrassment on court, but he has changed dramatically since becoming a father.
========================= ===================
oh spare me that.
he's a father when that magazine pays him to be photographed.
and give us a break.
in truth he's still an embarassment,a rather unpleasant, brash, slightly better talented player than other aussies, who has had a dream run due to the oz media's promotion and support.

Nalbandian should win today, although (as always) his fitness is "doubtful"

Ok,fair enough,I watched his match with Tipsaravic(not sure of spelling?)and yes he HAS improved a fair bit...there were only a few little Lleyton moments...it will be interesting to see how he goes with Nalbandian

I have always enjoyed watching him play but he will find it difficult to get back to his best, and even that may not be good enough to get back into the top 20. Today's match against Nalbandian should be a better indicator evidently Tipsarevic was not 100% fit so that match may not have been too much of a challenge.

i don't agree
sure, Lleyton used to be an embarrassment on court, but he has changed dramatically since becoming a father, and I now enjy watching him play.
Also, the break seems to have done him good, he's playing better than what he did last year, that's for sure

That makes it even sadder then that he is the highest ranked Aussie and the only one in the top 100.

Agree about the defensiveness - but you can only use the talents you have - he is neither tall enough or strong enough to be able to be more agressive - sadly he set the benchmark for all the young "run down everything, make the opponent hit one more shot" players who are doing so well at the moment e.g. Simon - but he can still put up a good effort against a lot of the lower ranked players.

You forgot one other thing he's still got TLF - a frustratingly defensive mindset!

Running down everything and counter-punching is OK when you're 18. At 28, it gets a bit harder - ask Michael Chang.

Like him or not - he's still got a big heart and a work ethic second to none. And good on him for his first win back in an ATP match (following on from Hopman Cup where only James Blake defeated him)

Absolutely agree...Lleyton is a great example of how not to behave on the sporting field...it's just horribly embarrassing watching him...there used to be a saying,'honour before victory' which used to apply to sports when i was a kid...the Aussie cricket team in recent years has also been embarrassing with the yobbo 'aggressive' approach to winning at all costs(and now we have Warney on tv explaining to kids how to be a good 'sledger')...oh dear...of course in this era of multi-millionaire sports people(tennis players being probably the worst)this has just become the norm
