I think that particular person is analysing the stats, SB. There has to be an explanation for it in there somewhere.
I think Blake is physically a top-class player. Mentally, he's a shot duck. |

MON eat some more of it then.....
My post was was directed to someone on these boards that thinks Blake is a top class player. That particular person talks the talk but when Blake gets beaten by the 103 ranked player in the world, disappears. |

| No, I'm saying that players in Challenger tournaments are rubbish. C'mon sushi, fish is meant to be brain food. |

He beat Blake in the first round. Are you saying Blake is a rubbish player? |

Better chance against Rochus than Fish (72 not 21) and collecting some valuable ranking points in the process.
No guarantee that he will meet a seeded player for a while - both Roddick and Querrey are not noted for their consistency and could easily self-destruct yet again - esp as Querrey has to get past Baghdatis. |

| Hewitt could easily lose to Rochus and will not be favoured to beat any of the seeded players left in the draw. But he has shown why going back to Challengers is a stupid idea - you generally don't get back to competitive level tennis by playing against rubbish players. You do it by challenging yourself against quality opposition. |

| Guccione defeated - Rochus did Hewitt a favour by defeating Fish - good chance for Hewitt to go further - Rochus doesn't have any big weapons to hurt him with. |

| Next match - Guccione (who leads 1-0 (two tiebreak sets) - with a probable clash with Fish for the winner. |

| For those who like stats - Lleyton led Blake 7 to 1 on past meetings - odds like that suggest the result was not unexpected - perhaps LH is getting back to match fitness - plus Blake is not one of the new breed of powerful baseliners that give Hewitt huge problems. Still think a return to top 30 is easily achievable. |

Because that game in January would have been his 2nd(?) game back from surgery and an extended layoff.
Lleyton is a better player hands down. Seriously he is. If it was his hip that was troubling him, he should be back in the swing of things and playing near his best by now.
His ranking is lower due to his time off, and his loss at the Aust Open but he is a potential top 10 player. If it isn't his hip he should resign himself to a top 30 player.
Blake hasn't made a GS semi in his life. No Masters victories either. If you think that Hewitt is getting too old, remember Blake is 2 years older than him at 29 |

"Hewitt should easily dispose of Blake, but if not, that is not a great sign for the coming clay court season."
Hewitt is ranked 107, Blake 11. How do you figure that "Hewitt should easily dispose of Blake"? |

seriously though, his game against blake will be a barometer of the success of his hip surgery. He should now be feeling close to being in stride with a few games back on tour.
Hewitt should easily dispose of Blake, but if not, that is not a great sign for the coming clay court season. |
