| I see A-Rod skipped the Kooyong event. Let Fedex win it against the very average field. |

| The one thing Roddick has going for him when he is fit is his ability to hang in there in the 5 setters. He is still only 26 so I think he can still win a another Slam if the cards fall his way. |

| Sadly my man Roddick lost today to a player who will be number one by the end of the year.I was hoping A-Rod would have to play Federer in the final because I think he has a better chance against him than Murray.Hopefully Roddick will get better with the help of his new coach. |

| zedhead, You can't go by that anymore my friend. The game has changed a lot in 20 years. It's like a different sport now - best 2/3 exhibitions and ATP tour championships - in comparison to the Grand Slams, where you have to play 3/5 sets (and conserve energy) and win 7 matches. That's where I suspect Muzza will probably fail. |

| Because the round of 16 is for the morons of the world to predict ...da...who might get into the final.I prefer to look at pointers to form far earlier ...like lousy little exhibitions and obscure championships. If I had a head like yours though I wouldn't be putting it on the chopping block. |

| Maybe, poor sad one, because we enjoy trying to predict what will happen and discussing possible outcomes. |

I repeat the question: When assessing a players form - why do you feel it necessary to make these early predictions asto who will - or willnot- win the Australian, U.S. French and Wimbledons based on best of three sets exhibitions and obscure
ATP championships?!
The prudent thing is to wait until at least the Round of 16 of Grand slam championship before you put your head on the chopping block. |

Zedhead, why don't you wait until the Australian Open is underway before you make these outrageous predictions concerning Murray and Roddick or for that matter, Federer.
It's the Slams that counts not some obscure ATP or exhibition championships.
Otherwise you'll run the risk of having egg splatered all over your head, hahahaha haha |

| He is in the final . Not bad for a one trick pony who just beat the guy who knocked out the number one player in the world. His new coach is showing him a few new tricks. Andy might surprise whoever he plays in the final. |

| Roddick is a one trick pony. Big serve and nothing to back it up. Just a petulant yank with the temperament of McEnroe but not the talent. |

Thanks for that. Reading up on what other fans had to say about A-Rodd I would concur that he'll be best remembered by his astute press conferences, power serve and some bad luck having to run into Roger in two back to back Wimbly finals.
A- Rodd did hold a 4-1 lead in the third set of the 2004 Final but his momentum was ruined by the English rain. Had it not rained Roddick would probably had go on to win this match and his rivalry against Roger would not have been so one sided. |

| Andy's blown it I'm sorry to say. The guy just failed to develop as an all-round player or at the very least add something more to his natural game, during his formative years. When the hell are you going to realise that fact?! |

For me, as I have said previously on the Roddick thread.... this is the last year he has to prove himself. Hopefully the new coach will help... why he doesnt win stuff I dont know.. but he doesnt...
2009 is going to be really interesting... |

| Yes this is the thread for the true believers. The folks who don't give up on the great A-Rod.With his new coach in tow he is going to prove he can win more Slams.Look at Connors ,he came back to win Wimbledon 8 years after he first won it.Look at Goran Ivanišević,he had 4 cracks at winning Wimbledon before finally succeeding. What about Andre Agassi,he was pretty much washed up in '98 before he changed his attitude ,got a new coach and ditched his wife.He then made it back to number one.Roddick can do this because if nothing else, he is a tenacious person who knows he can do better. |
