| My theory is that the person that is the greatest is the person YOU believe to be the greatest... I mean we could be arguing on who is the best and stuff but i think we should just congratulate Roger Federer on his 14th grand slam cause i'm sure he'd like that. I'm also sure that all of you would like that as well... So CONGRATS FEDERER! | The greatest female player in the open era in my opinion is Steffi Graf,you know the Golden Slam and all that.No one on the male side except Rod laver comes anywhere near her achievements.Federer failed to win the Grand Slam and an Olympic Gold Medal when it was on offer.He has never even owned all four titles simultaneously from one calender year to the next.All Federer might ever achieve is to temporarily own the most Slams.BIG DEAL! | Federer has merely equaled a number posted by Pete Sampras.He has not won a Grand Slam like Rod Laver did twice.He has not been a champion over a 10/ 12 year period like Agassi or Sampras or as in the case of Ken Rosewall a 20 year period.And whatever he achieves will be eclipsed in the next couple of years by Nadal anyway.He would like to think he is but he is not the greatest. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
