I'll talk to you however I wish to. You are ignorant of what goes on with the man..You can't even make a comment
back because you can't comment about what I said. Hope you choke on it.

As got you last comment.... pathetic like your thread. Many players lose matches they are favorite's to win. It's called tennis.

Hey you can't talk to me like that!!

I am female and whether you believe it or not I have respect for some your views, which is more than my half-brother moertwistedlogic does. But not the ones you have on James Blake.

When i type JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO, yeah maybe I could have chosen a better title but needed one to attract your attention (which it did). But all in all I stand by with everything I said about James Blake. Let's just say I have seen many matches where he was either favourite to win but lost while other ones he "snatched defeat at the jaws of victory".

They sure do. IF only they knew some of what I know they would have egg all over their faces. I will tell say this that guy has enormous problems with his back and always will for the rets of his life...do you ever hear complain no, do you hear how he has to get into that brace alot of night... no..you never will. It is something that he has learned to live with. Maybe you should try wearing that back brace on your big mouth ZB/Twistersister. In other words...shut up and go find another player to pick on

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
nicolina - zedbrat has no logical reason for his attitude towards Blake and neither does twisted - Blake could do really well at the US or any other tournament and they would still be just as critical - they both (it sometimes seems as if they are one and the same person)come out with some great comments but these are unfortunately outnumbered by stupid abusive ones. I sometimes feel they are simply stirring.

hello...

twoleftfeet the knives seem to be out for Blake arent they?

he still under 30 and still loves tennis. Why not wait until after the U.S. Open before you bury him.

Funny thing is TLF I never said he was a great player ...a good player yes...and he will stay around as long as he enjoys playing the sport and has something to give

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
I was saying that Blake, along with most other players in the top 20 (and Hewitt by the way has yet to win his way BACK there after injury) is a good player, not a great player, and deserves to be there. He does not "have to go"

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
<Blake has 10 career titles to his name>

Lleyton has 27 titles as does Roddick
Lleyton and Roddick both have 4 Queens titles of which Blake has only recently made the finals

Hewitt & Roddick have both made 4 GS finals, Hewitt winning 2 and Roddick 1.

Hewitt has won 2 masters series events, Roddick 4. Blake 0

< he has been ranked as high as 4 in the world which is an indication of a pretty good player>

LH & ARod have both been end-of-year #1's

It just indicates that he has racked up points relative to the others (the year before he was injured so that helped)

He plays a lot of tournaments to get those points (with few wins really) which explains why he is so drained - a la his comments at Wimbledon

so you were saying?...

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO...and find himself another career, probably as a gigolo!!!

grsydney you are missing (probably intentionally) the whole point. It is his acheivements at the very ELITE (note capital letters) level that this thread is about.

Do you think that years after he has retired Blake's (or any other players) fans will remember his ATP title wins?

More likely he will be remembered as the guy who played Agassi at the open and lost in an exciting 5 setter, one of the greatest ever at the USO.

I think the USTA and US media needs to promote other players
here in america rather than waste their time on some underacheiver.

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
Not only do you discount his 10 ATP titles you are discounting the fact that he has twice been a finalist with Federer Cincinnati Masters and the Masters Cup .

Go pick on a player of lesser achievements

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
Twisted as you are I am not going to get into an arguement with you about James Blake.

TLF put her comments very well just below and I am not going any further. There are many many players who have not achieved what Blake has done in his career which is still going like ir or not.

For you to add a comment saying that his 10 ATP title wins means nothing just shows how pathic you are. Sure he has not achieved well in Grand Slam events.

As for Wimbledon sure he went out in the first round of the singles and yes he was disappointed with his performance but he was sick and also carrying an injury. He is over that now thankfully and has been putting in very solid performances in the the doubles with Mardy Fish with two straight sets victories including the first rooound victory over the #3 seeds.

There is no Reason for you to start up a useless thread saying he has to go. Go pick on some other unfortunate player to be the brunt of your hatred.

grsydney - I have put across my point regarding Blake's lack of Grand Slam acheivement very respectfully and objectively however you don't appear to have guts to reply one way or the other. I find that very interesting.

Oh yes I agree - there's the Davis Cup that should have been included as elite. Granted James Blake has had some success in this area.

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
OK I will explain it another way. The Grand Slams is the holy grail of tennis and the backbone of a tennis players credentials. To date Blake's best acheivement was as a losing quarterfinal to Agassi at the US Open in 2006.

Sorry but The 10 ATP titles Blake has won does not really count.

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
Blake has 10 career titles to his name (wins over Roddick and Hewitt among these) - he has been ranked as high as 4 in the world which is an indication of a pretty good player. Major injury he had to recover from was a BROKEN NECK but did so and regained his top 10 ranking. Would be an interesting exercise to see how many of those above him are as old/older than him - not too many. One big problem he has faced is the same as Roddick - i.e. a gent called Roger Federer who leads him 9 to 1 with several of these finals. If we are asking for examples of other players how about some to back up your claim against James?

I think Miloslav Mecir once led Becker 2 sets to love in the Australian in 1989 or 1990.

Mecir also led Edberg 2-0 at the semis of Wimbledon in the year the Swede first won there.

So that's two examnples.

sistertwisted...

Yes you are objective but to be fair James does have a good record in Davis Cup and the backbone in the USA team for a number of years. The davis cup still is "elite tennis".

However his record in the Slams is very average.

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
Of course if others cannot agree, can you name me then names of other players who were the regular "snatching defeats from the jaws of victory"?. You would be hard-pressed to find any at least in men's tennis.

Re:JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
Note: I used "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" and not choker as I have done in the past. I'm convinced Blake is a master at it. Blake does it with greater consistency than any player I've ever seen. In nearly 40 years since I been either as a player or a follower, I have never witnessed anyone as bad in Men's tennis.

JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO - Reply to this message
No this is not another post/thread to needle grsydney. You can only try for so long to get the message through and I have been trying for over a year now. But this is a more objectiver approach now.

James Blake was a great story when he first came into our lives ironically as Hewitt's opponent in 2001 U.S. Open. Then there was the tragedy of losing his Dad, his injury etc.
Today Blake has fortitude with regard to life, but - NEXT TO NOTHING WHEN IT COMES TO ACHEIVING ANYTHING IN ELITE TENNIS.
He is just one of those players who has a constant knack at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. And When these sorts of defeats arises he then always has an excuse for it.

Over-hyped?, over-rated?, over-tennised?

That's James Blake's story.
