It would be coming up to 4:05 am Sydney and Eastern Standard Time .

peenpong what sort of nut would be up that time of the morning just to post a comment that has nothing to do with tennis - how extraordinary.

I referred to you and Sushi.. I didnt specifically say you said the R word.
That means it was the other child....
You should choose your friends more carefully.

You have also of course, just admitted that Zed and Twisted are the same.
Did you mean to?

Re:The Press & Sport Reply to this message
I had decided to completely ignore your useless comments and only acknowlege the sensible ones but here are two points for you to consider.
1.It is not the task of posters to be critical of the spelling/grammar of other posters.
2. I do not consider "you are thick" to be a contribution to a meaningful discussion. I have no issue with anyone disagreeing with my opinions. As a "cranky old lady" I object to being called names but would not object to a logical argument against my opinion.

That's our ZedStar. Actually I agree with him re: Safina's game. I would not have been as blunt.

ZB:"Safina is a clueless, mindless, ballbasher cho-ker"

you make a stupid childish statement like that then follow up with that was a qgood question. If you want to be recogibnsed seriously you will stop this useless name bashing and let thosed that wont to have a sensible discussion without all the name calling and abuse you lash out on a few players

Re:The Press & Sport Reply to this message
The obvious reason being agreeing with you? Why can't you have a DISCUSSION without resorting to abuse and name-calling. The premise is that everyone has a right to their own opinion - most opinions are subjective - why do you have to abuse anyone who doesn't agree with you? The idea is to ENJOY discussions about tennis, the players and the tournaments isn't it???

Re:The Press & Sport Reply to this message
"Even the best players 'choke' and lose at times"

not as often as Safina and James Blake. Safina's loss yesterday and absymal 59-minute performance vs Serena at this years A.O final, is a reflection that this girl lacks the mental strength to compete in the business end of the Grand slams.

welcome to the messageboard. We need more intelligent folks like you for obvious reasons.

Re:The Press & Sport Reply to this message
Hi thanks for your sensible question. Nice to have sensible posts for a change. In the main Safina has benefited by the sisters playing less on the WTA tour and focusing only on the Slams. My Guess is Venus and Serena know their bodies and are on the wrong side of 20. Safina meanwhile has taken advantage by playing a more full on schedule of tournaments and therefore gained enough computer points.

My thoughts are It's far from the perfect system.

Re:The Press & Sport Reply to this message
How (if you are right) did Safina become No. 1 in the world. Logically she must have earned that position by winning a match or two in other Grand Slam events on different surfaces and maybe better times for her. Yes Wimbledon is the most prestigious event but not the only measure of a player's ability. Even the best players 'choke' and lose at times and to me don't deserve such nasty criticism. Could you do better, or even have the fortitude to have a go?

Re:The Press & Sport Reply to this message
Safina is a clueless, mindless, ballbasher cho-ker.

It's a mockery of the game that a player like that can be rated world number one and lose 1-6,0-6 in a semifinal at the holy grail of tennis.

The Press & Sport Reply to this message
Most tennis players go on court, play their best on the day and display 'Sportsmanship". Adversely I feel much of the Press who cover these games are only interested in selling papers not caring at what emotional cost to the players. Hopefully they, like me, refuse to read that trash. Good on all players who 'have a go' and Bouquets to Venus who displayed true 'Sportsmanship' by defending the ugly comments about Safina and to any other players who do the same.
