Just like the string of players who "should have beaten Federer at the French and didn't"? Agassi, like Federer was never beaten until the last point was played. Still no reason for the point of this thread - Blake is as worthy of his spot in the ATP top 20 as any other player and some fool's dislike of him is no reason for him to retire.
nicolina - I hope your comment was made without your reading all the comments posted, but if you did read them and still made the comment I am disappointed in you. |

"And dont forget while you mention the US Open and Agassi..sure Blake lost that match that night in a thrilling 5 setter...known as one fo the greatestg matches at the US Open. I well remember Agassi's words at the end...The only winner on this court tonight was Tennis."
Yes, and that was a match Blake should have won but didn't. |

And dont forget he was a finalist in what they refer to as Grand Slam #5 the Masters Cup final. That alone makes him to be worthy of where he is..A top player, no the greaest but a top player.
You may not apprecaite his achievements and they are many, the crowds sure so. It is a thing called "loiving what you do".

I doubt his game plan has anything to do with it. The sheer natural talent of Federer and Nadal now, and Agassi and Sampras in the past, was always going to be too great for a player like Blake.
Grand Slam titles are a good way to judge if a player is 'great', but it is not the only way to judge a career. Davis Cup, ATP events and general results are all areas where Blake can look on with some satisfaction.
Grand Slam wins are, in the main, limited to the best of the best. Blake is a very good tennis player, but he is not talented enough to mix it with the best - that is no reason to say he should quit though. |

well aren't you quite an informed man?!
If he had a more flexible game and strategy then i'm sure he would've been able to reach at least one Grand Slam final, probably the USO.
Get this I neither like or dislike Blake. So I feel I'm in a position to be objective(r) summarising Blake's Grand Slam acheivements and why he hasn't been able to challenge "the two men".
James Blake should go and seek an acting career in Hollywood. |

James Blake should go? Go where? And why?
Ok, he's not winning Grand Slam titles - but let's face it, for the past 5 years those have gone almost exclusively to two men!
He is ranked in the top 20 in the world and has earned more than $350,000 this year from winnings alone! Why the hell would he quit? Because some illiterate blogger doesn't like him? Or do I need to be 'OBJECTIVER' (sic)
If a career spanning (to date) 10 years, yielding a winning percentage of 62% and prize money of $6.5 million, is underachieving, then sign me up!
Sure, he's not one of my favourite players, but I can't see why he'd quit. Grand Slam success is not something every tennis player can achieve - and like I said, only 2 people are really doing that right now anyway!
Players like Blake and Tommy Haas may not win Grand Slam titles, but their place on the tour is deserved. They are entitled to play for as long as they desire. |

| Also have you noticed how his tennis only thrives more when his playing in a big crowd atmosphere. Put him on a outside court and small crowd and nine times out of ten, he loses. |

| I just don't see Blake as anymore than just an inflexible character by the strategy he adopts in his singles matches resulting in shocking loses at the Slams (recall my clueless, mindless, ball basher comment). Also have you noticed how is tennis only thrives more when his playing in a big crowd atmosphere. Put him on a outside court and small crowd and nine times out of ten, he loses. |

"Testing your memory a bit aren't you? How many of his matches did you see20 odd years ago?"
oh that's nice that you remember?
only it's more than 20 odd years - I seen him play mainly in 1984 -1987 in davis cup matches and at Wimbledon, New Zealand Open and Australian circuit. While I was a player I never actually met him.
Must go now. Moretwistedlogic will soon be back. |

Yes of course - but you will find whatever I say he goes with it. Whatever he says I go with.
We're two of one kind.
Look for Zed to try and respond with an issue that is contrary to my point of view. He can't. hahahahahahah |

| Testing your memory a bit aren't you? How many of his matches did you see20 odd years ago? While his achievements were admirable Kelly EvererndEn only got to a high ranking of 31. Add to this any of his matches you did see were not viewed through the bias you use to judge Blake. |

I admire your devotion to Blake but let's be realistic.
New Zealander's Kelly Everndon who played on the circuit in the 80's played with one lung since Yeah I Know he wasn't a top player and was also a quartefinalist at the Australian Open one year. However I cannot ever recall Everndon losing a number of matches with the regularity as Blake appears to, where he snatched defeat at the jaws of victory.
Dont make excuses for your idol. You are not doing Blake any favours with this attitude. Get a life... |

"Youre ignorant of what goes on with the man..You can't even make a comment
back because you can't comment about what I said..."
I am a tennis fan and as such not privy to what his physical state is. What makes you so special?
Oh I see, Tennis fans are expected to be aware of their idol's state of physical conditioning.
So Blake carries and plays with an injury, big faaarking deal.
Lots of players have injuries, such as Hewitt with his hip, Nadal with his knee, and still find a way to acheive a win matches. So why single out Blake for? |

As got you last comment.... pathetic like your thread. Many players lose matches they are favorite's to win. It's called tennis. |

Hey you can't talk to me like that!!
I am female and whether you believe it or not I have respect for some your views, which is more than my half-brother moertwistedlogic does. But not the ones you have on James Blake.
When i type JAMES BLAKE HAS TO GO, yeah maybe I could have chosen a better title but needed one to attract your attention (which it did). But all in all I stand by with everything I said about James Blake. Let's just say I have seen many matches where he was either favourite to win but lost while other ones he "snatched defeat at the jaws of victory". |
