There is a case for introducing 5th set tiebreakers at Wimbledon Australian and French. Nowadays there just isn't enough hours in a day to accomodate all the matches anymore, also mainstream networks cannot broadcast tennis way over their original programming finish timeslots.

Murray squeezes past Wawrinka in what must be the latest finishing match at Wimbledon ever. He plays the surprise packet JCF next.

Roddick was super-impressive today and should beat Hewitt comfortably, a Roddick-Murray semi final would be fantastic.

In the other half, Federer plays Dr Ivo, who must have been feeling sick and only served 40 aces against Verdasco today. Haas plays Djokovic.

Hello...

I watched his match against Federer at the Australian this year where he basically got nervous after blowing a 2 sets lead and lost in 5. I wouldn't be surprised if he chokes again against Murray.

I can't wait for this one come Monday - Roddick vs Berdych. Amazingly Berdych hasn't dropped a set yet. But he has not faced opposition of the calibre of A-Rodd.

Roddick in another 4 setter.

Re:wimbledon 2009 Reply to this message
don't think the Fed can (surprise..surprise) There are a few dark hores this year as there are every year. But the Fed is far from a sure thing and those dark horses loom larger because of that. Karlovic will take some big names down,a couple of the serbs will have big wins. A-Rod will be in the semis for sure.

Oh and It sucks that Nadal is not playing.

Re:wimbledon 2009 Reply to this message
hello ..I think that Novak Djokovic has shown the best form of all the top seeds i've seen so far. His straight sets win against Mardy Fish and his improved movement on grass is the best I've seen from him ever. His serves are always solid and if he can keep that up then it's going to be hard for anyone to beat him (including Roger).

hello...

Watching Roger play against Philip Kohlschriber and Roger seems to be falling asleep. After leading 2 sets to 0 and 4-2, Philip comesback to win the third in a tiebreker. Roger will need to play better tennis in the final set.

Hello...

Sam Stosur lost the first set 6-4 and had been down 4-2 in the second but is working her way back. It's 5-5 in the second.

I'm going to take a huge wild guess and say the women's champion will be Williams.

I leave it to you to figure out the rest.

hello ... I wasnt expecting Sharapova to be the first big name player to fall. Will this have a negative effect
on the rest of the women's singles?

Re:wimbledon 2009 Reply to this message
It's annoying when C9 gives the impression it's live when it's not - like last night when Stosur's match was over (results both on net and Foxtel) and they were "crossing" to Hewitt's match for progress scores as if it was still in progress. Seems they have always done this - guess it means they don't have to have short ad breaks. Interesting how long some of the breaks at change of end can be when it's delayed.

Re:wimbledon 2009 Reply to this message
yeah, but I have to stay up to stupid o'c.lock to watch it. If I didn't have to work for a living, I'd probably never go to bed.

Not many upsets so far, a bit surprising given how little tennis is played on grass. Except for Blake, I think all the top players are still around.

Political correctness as a blight on modern society, and it is right to apologise for it. Politicians are the only ones who should take themselves so seriously.
