| how different were the Women's semifinals last night!! The Serena/Elena was one of the best matches i have seen at Wimbledon for a few years. Some of the rallies was awesome. The Venus/Safina second semi was just awful. Over in 50 minutes and Safina can only win a game ! No Womens semifinals at Wimbledon should be expected to last 50 minutes ! But all credit to Venus and I am hoping she wins the final. But Safina is supposed to be world number 1. How can that be when she plays so poorly in the Grand Slam semis and in her 2 finals at Australia and French opens. |

| hello... that's not nice. TLF does knows a lot about tennis and it comes across in her posts. Always worth reading. I think you will find Lleyton Hewitt's groin injury was from the Stepanek match and was aggravated in the 4th set of the match against Roddick. |

| I watched the replay vince .Hewitt was moving good enough to still send down aces in the 9th game of the fifth set.He got tired but I didn't see any obvious discomfort.Roddick stuck to him like glue in that 9th game and Hewitt faltered.Give Andy some credit because Hewitt played very well and lost. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I agree Sumduude, with ALL of that. Except I'm tipping the big Scot to beat Roddick in 3. | Don't know why Z bothers you so much G. Z only has a superficial understanding of the game and basically says what pops into his mind at the time. There is very little basis to what he says, so just let him go. I didn't see the LH/Roddick game but having had groin strains and shin splints in the past it is often ok when you are running, but painful when you push off the bone/muscle that is injured. Hewitt by the sound of it wasn't able to get the rhythm/height he needed on serve, but was still able to return and play well enough to break and force a fifth set. If Hewitt can do it, Murray (who is actually statistically the best return on serve on the tour incidentally - i discovered this today) should be able to match Roddick on grass. Murray has a game more like Hewitts without the "wheels" & fitness but with finesse more like Feds. Murray will dispose of Roddick in 4 and I think we shall see a repeat of the 2008 US Open final. |

Interesting statement but... it doesn't wash. Roddick had 3 set points during the second set tiebreak and from memory *** -ed on one of them, where he tried to play a slice forehand while returning Hewitts second serve, which he netted, rather than hitting through the stroke. It wasn't until early in the fourth set Hewitt's groin became noticable by a number of double faults. |

| Can't believe the stuff that's on the messageboards today. Fellas, please, can we remember (or try to) that's it's only a messageboard and not recess time during school. Yeah I know Zedhead and friends gets "over the top" (maybe that's what he wants) but it's still no reason to turn it into a school boy hiding. There are other folks who may want to talk and exchange views about tennis seriously and ethical. Folks such as twoleftfeet, whose a very intellect, wise and sweet Lady, IMO. iF it's possible I would like an answer to a question: When was the last time a number 1 ranked player both male or female DID NOT play Wimbledon for whatever reason? I have in mind Monica Seles in 1993 due to her getting stabbed in April that year. |

| So Final score Roddick [6] defeats Hewitt 6-3, 6-7 (10), 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-4 in 3 hours 50 mins. This now is the match of the championship!!! But seriously Roddick struggling to beat a groin affected Hewitt who could barely move and barely had any service power in the fourth set is not a good sign when he plays against Murray. Also The crowds are going to play their part. Look for Murray to fire them up at every opportunity. |

Only Andy went to sleep but credit to Hewitt for getting back into it. The british crowds will unnerve Roddick something awfull in the semis. GO MURRAY !!! |
