Vince baby
I didnt record the match so cannot prove what I saw...
but as I lipread quite well these days,, I saw Roddick mouth.. Im sorry.. maybe because Murray was the Brits only hope since 1936 and he had just crushed their hopes.. Dont know.
With regard to the Williams sisters I think there is an element of sisterly love, which prevails..
match fixing is a stronger version of sisterly love and I think it is possible that Venus would play less than her best to let Serena win.. |

| Last year was about as good as it gets when the sisters meet in a final. My friend guess will just have to agree to disagree. You going to be watching Nine's coverage of Federerererer Vs Roddong or Foxtel's version? |

| What do you mean. That was a good match. At the begining both were fighting to come out on top and Serena proved the better of the two. To suggest earlier that their matches are fixed shows that you just dont know about those two |

Therein lies the problem i believe there should be more emphasis on the GS...During the french it was said that even if serena had won she would still be points short of the number 1 ranking. which seems ridiculous. however dinara safina's consistency in tournaments has been impressive this year. it cant be said that serena isnt competing in enough tournaments because safina has competed in 11 while serena 10. serena just struggled during the clay court season.
Funny that Serena Williams three tournament wins in nearly 12 months have all been the majors. |

| Seems that the aim of the WTA is to reward consistency rather than spasmodic brilliance. Safina has two tournament victories, plus she reached the finals/semis (R/U Aus and French S/F Wim) in several others. Serena, although having her Slam wins (which carry 2000 points each) has, as far as I can find, one R/U a S/f and Q/F plus several early round losses (due to injury, but still counted as losses) she has played in only 2 less tournaments than Safina for the 52 week ranking calculation. The ATP has only revised its system this year, but still has a similar one. I think they have tried to make the system a fair one, not really a good idea if they had a system where players might play 6 or 8 times a year, but include the Slams, hence be in front in ranking points. Would probably be safe to assume that had Serena been fit and gone deeper into the tournaments where she had first round losses, she would be number 1. |

2009 Wimbledon Ladies singles final - S. Williams (2) defeats V. Williams (3) 7-6,6-2.
Hmmmmmmmmm I smell a rat. Could the result have been pre-arranged?
On the basis of this and past Grand Slam finals involving the Williams sisters, ideally it would be great to have a new rule for sisters (and brothers) competing in the same G.S. event implemented. They should always put the siblings in the same half of the draw to ensure that none of them meet in the final.
You want tennis players to put 110% effort at wimbledon and I just didn't sense that about Venus after the tiebreak.
Others may or may not agree with my "fixed" comments but one things for sure. The Sisters playing one another in the Slams rarely produces exciting high quality tennis. Last year's straight sets final was about as close as it gets. |

Did anybody see Roddick say I am sorry after he won.
From the camera angle I couldnt see whether he said it to Murray or the crowd.
I thought it was pretty nice of him...
What did he say in his interview afterwards... I missed it. |

Hello...
I think that Murray is not ready to win a grand slam. it takes a lot of talent and consistency playing best of 5 sets..it takes the never-say-die attitude of a Serena to win a GS . Murray is not even nearly as good as Haas whom i believe is better mover on grass than either Murray or Roddick. But i believe the scot/brit will surely win a slam such as the U.S. and Australian Opens. |

Hello...Mr vinceevert,
To fans of Andy "Muzza" Murray -
... it's very disappointing result but he was beaten by a player who played a strategic wise perfect game...
when you say "strategic wise perfect game" what do you mean by that? Please elaborate. |

oh dear.
There's many Muzza fans (and the whole of Britan) heartbroken now.
Roddick (6) defeats Murray (3), 6-4,4-6,7-6,7-6.
Zedhead I was so impressed with Roddick's tactics the way he messed up Murray's game. He came to the net a lot more than I imagined he would and he hit those deliberate short vollies, that highlighted the weakness of big fella's movement going up and down the court is not anywhere as good as moving side to side behind the baseline.
Zedhead, another fascinating result is Murray won 141 points and Roddick 143. So it was a lot close than the overall score.
Roddick looked real emotional after the win didn't he?.
Expect Zedhead to go wild on the messagebaord should Andy defeat Roger. |
