| Don't know how to reference it but check out ATP tour website. They quote Federer on the GOAT discussion. He sums it up perfectly. |

"I think he is implying that Fedex has had an easy run"
As usual you read what you want to and give your own interpretation of what people say.. Nice try ZB he didn't say it. |

| Not the same quality of competition as there was in Laver's or Sampras's day.Sampras even alluded to it in a recent interview when he was asked if Federer deserved to called the greatest of all time.He answered that Federer had dominated his opposition like no other top player in history with the emphasis on opposition.I think he is implying that Fedex has had an easy run.I agree. |

Given that info, many said Fed's aura had been destroyed, his game was decoded and he was effectively past it.
X-Fed? Nowhere near it.
My bet is Fed won't drop a set before the end of The Championships. Which of course he will win. |

Just came across this stat.
At Grand Slam level, Federer is now on a 117 game streak against players ranked outside the Top 5.
His last loss to a player outside the Top 5 at a Grand Slam championship was to No. 30 Gustavo Kuerten at 2004 Roland Garros (3rd round). It was also the last time Fed was not in a Slam semi.
His winning percentage since then to 2008 against top 10 players was also about 94%. Still is well over 90% by my reckoning
Certainly puts him up there amongst the best. I would love to dig up Laver's (and Nadal's for that matter) record to see how it compares. |

Sampras never had anyone as good as Nadal in his era.
History will show that in time to come.
Agassi has alluded to that point recently. |

It took Sampras 11 years to win 14 Slam tourneys. It took Federer 7.
Yes Sampras never won the French, and well Federer is in the box seat to make it 16 within months.
Fed has beaten Sampras' longest consecutive weeks at #1 along with a host of other records. |

| Nicolinaharris. Dont make a logical comment here as ZB will throw you down. He only answers when it suits his arguement.. Just like he mainatins that the RL arena was namely becasue Laver was the best male tennis player but as is ointed out below. No ONE has ever or will ever achieve what Maragaret Cort achieved. If anything court number one should have been named after her as the greatest Austalian tennis player ever |

Hello...
We are just going around in circles deciding the GOAT of all time.
It is absolutely impossible to compare the best from different ERAs.
The game, the equipments, etc has changed from time to time.
Mayne we should just look at it as the GOAT in the open ERA and the GOAT before that.
By winning the French and equalling Sampras 14 GSs Federer has become GOAT in the open ERA.
Many past champions and current players all have announced Federer as the greatest of all time which cannot be disputed. |
