| What a raging narcissist Roger Federer is to don a '15' jacket minutes after beating Andy Roddick at Wimbledon. Andy Roddick must have felt 2 inches high to know that Federer considered the win such a sure thing that there was a jacket ready for him to put on before the sweat had dried. | I'm getting fed up of critics saying Andy choc.ed during the second set tiebreaker. Had Federer lost the match, I can guarantee that critics would probably say that he *** .ed in the first set not converting 4 break points and by poor returning. So I guess excuses can, and will, come from both sides. No Roddick didn't choke. If critics want to think that he did, go ahead, however it is a bit childish to. |

| Federer has proved why he is the greatest of all time. Cool under pressure and does not choke. Down 4 set points in the 2nd set he prevailed and went on to win the match. As for the French, it's not his fault Nadal lost. |

I don't think he should be criticized for what he said about his defeat last year during the on-court interview... He was just trying to console Andy. That would only apply if we spoke of the person who has played the most pro tennis matches as the greatest player. I agree with the point you are trying to make though, most GS titles isn't a perfect way to determine GOAT status. The highest ever run scorer for Australia in cricket is Alan Border, soon to be Ricky Ponting. Are they better than Bradman? No. The areas that, IMO, give the edge to Federer are: Most consecutinve GS semi final appearances, most consecutive finals appearances, most ATP titles, most GS titles etc. All of these COMBINED, assist the Federer case. Of course, this is a highly subjective debate and nobody will ever have a 'right' answer - just opinion. Quite frankly, the whole argument is as interesting as James Blunt's greatest hits! |
