| Unfortunately I missed the match and I was looking forward to watching it.Two of my favourite players but only one can win.Roddick's serve has been a bit rusty during the tournament and without having seen the match I think probably let him down again.Well done to Del Potro. No shame in losing such a tight match to a player of his calibre. |

Isner reminded me of Roddick with his reliance on his serve...
He is a newcomer (am I right)? and hopefully wont leave it as long as Roddick to fulfil his potential... or seek advice.
Good final waiting in the wings??? |

| Bearing in mind that Del Potro defeated Roddick in LA finals last year I think he has a very good chance of defending his Washington title from last year. |

Yes Roddick won in a very tight match. 67 62 75. It was experience at this level of playing that got him through only.
As I said on the other thread he is going to have to get that serve working if he wants to win the finals. It used to be the weapon that he could always rely on and now it is not working like it should. He was way out aced by Inser today and converted only 3/10 break points.
Del Potro is on fire. 28 aces in only two matches. |

If Roddick wants to win the final he is goping to have to get his serve back.
Yesterday:
Isner v Berdych Aces 17/7
Roddick/Karlovic Aces 7/13
Today first set it again seem to be not there
Aces Isner 8 Roddick 2
And Isner has won the first set 76 |

| If Marat Safin had kept it together Hewitt would never have made it to number one. |

| In terms of who has been a better ambassador for tennis world wide I believe Roddick wins hands down. It's very unfortunate that Roddick had to face Federer in the 4 Slam finals he has lost.On the other hand it says a lot about Roddick's place in tennis history that he was good enough to do just that 4 times over a 5 year period .It would also appear that Roddick is getting even better with time and is still only 26.Hewitt's Wimbledon victory was definitely a soft one against the biggest choker I have ever seen,Nalbandian. His victory over Sampras was good but Sampras was getting pretty long in the tooth.I think Roddick is slightly ahead but may get further ahead when he wins another major. |

Hello...
So who do you think had the better career: Hewitt or Roddick ?
By grand slam wins, then it would be Lleyton. However, the period of which he was #1 where lets be honest, where the rest of the field were either up and commers, or ageing players.
Hewitt's 2002 wimbledon draw was a blessing. Anyone in the top 5 would have won easily. I think 6 of his 7 matches were won in straight sets.
His '01 US open triumph was better as he beat arch Rivals Blake and Roddick both in 5 and a ageing Pete Sampras and other good players.
Roddick's only slam was well earned, he defeated Henman 1st round, and came from two sets down to beat David Nalbandian (on his bet surface) and in the final thrashed #1 Ferrero. Probably more impressive than Hewitt's 2001 win.
I think on hard courts, Hewitt has made 3 HC finals, but got thrashed by federer once and beat by safin in the other. Roddick has made 2, but didn't get humiliated against Fed the way Lleyton had.
Grass, It has to be Andy. Yeah I know everyone will say that hewitt won wimbledon and roddick didn't, but roddick got stopped by federer 4 times. On clay, I give the edge to Hewitt.
But overall consistency wise It's Roddick, a top 10 player for almost 10 years now and still going strong, Hewitt has had injuries but would have been kO'd fro the top 10 anyway.
So, which of the 2 guys do others feel had the better career ? Andy Roddick with 1 slam in a year where everyone was starting to develop and play around at the same level? Or Lleytn Hewitt who won his slams in a short space in time when other players were 30 or pushing 30 years of age? |

| I watched it and when Roddick needed it ,he upped the ante. What are you gonna do against a guy 6.10 tall with a serve like that.Roddick owns him and it was convincing. |

Having just watched the match it could easily have gone either way.
Break points won AR 3/5 SQ 2/9
Aces AR 3 SQ 11
Double Faults AR 6 SQ 1
Andy was lucky to get away with the win |
