Federer would be the greatest player i have seen play and i have watched Tennis for over 30 years.
However, if he wants to go down in history as the greatest ever he needs to win the French and i doubt that will ever happen.
He may now struggle to go level with Sampras for Grand Slam wins let alone pass him.
Had he won the Australian Open he may have gone ahead but that loss will be put that doubt even further in his head when it comes to playing Nadal in future.
Nadal will burn out in a couple of years time but it will be all too late then for Federer.
Federer must accept a lot of the blame as in recent times i believe he has become a little too big headed thinking no one could get near him. He has come back to the pack in a big way.
For mine though his style of play is beautiful to watch. Sampras was all serve and no grace. I rate Mcenroe higher than Sampras although Mcenroe rates Sampras the greatest ever. |

| Federer will never ever be number one again. He has won once in his last 5 Slam appearances. It will take more than Nadal to fall over for Fedex to be number one again.Coaches are learning more every week about to counteract Federer's style.Federer is a shot duck! |

| I am sure R. Federer will be number 1 again. It's just a momentary hiccup he will overcome in time. |

| I was commenting on the description of Blake's victory. Blake couldn't crush a cabbage patch doll.On the other hand the guy that Roddick played would probably beat Blake.HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.You lose again dipstick. |

Although your comment is on the wrong thread ZB
Your point is?
You seem to forget that Roddick's first round match was against someone who is ranked #368 (Ryderstedt). Blake played against #108 (Spadea)
So in your words they both must have played no names hahaha |

| Maybe when he gets his backbone returned. How pathetic, a grown man crying because he didn't win. Is being number 2 that bad? |

| That's all you have to say about the final grsydney. No admitting that Nadal is by far a superior player than Federer. Time to eat some humble pie grsydney. |

| The lure of huge TV ratings has changed the face of tennis. It wasn't always on at the stupid late hours that it is now.The fame factor is at a different level now,the money is unbelievable even if you don't win a big tournament. The biggest difference is the state of the art facilities that are being laid on to showcase these events.Big business is very much in control now and the players know it.There is a spirit missing in the game today. It is too politically correct. |

| Who isn't enjoying it, players or spectators? If it's players, I wonder do they feel added pressure to perform in order to create profits for administrators and tennis associations. Is it all about rankings, prize-money, and titles rather than the sport, or was it always like that? |
