| it'll be a welcome change for tennis if there were new champions, so I'm going for Safina - but i don't really care. |

I reckon Williams will beat Safina. She knows when to pull out the big guns and she's been playing ridiculously wel this year.
The men's match is a little trickier. I'd like Federer to in. But I think Nadal's been playing slightly better during this year's Open. It coul dgo either way. |

I'm going: Federer and Safina [singles]
I'll go the Williams sisters in Doubles
and the Bryan boys, if they're still in it. |

grsydney, you should be very happy your man won very imnpressive! A great semifinal! Roger's serving was a significant difference. Interesting you say Andy's "made some improvements". What improvements did you notice from Roddick?
Bet that Zedhead will lay low but will reappear as one of his aliases. |

And Roger takes the first semi final and awaits the result of the two spaniards.
Sure Roddick has made some improvements but way too late in his career to make any difference |

The commentators were saying last night during the Nadal-Simon match that as the roof was closed, the ball-fluff that would normally be blown away by the wind was still on the court. They thought this could be the reason why Rafa was looking a bit troubled in the 2nd and 3rd sets....
Don't know how true that it is but thought I might mention it... |

| Nineinch, the reason is the humidity builds up and the air becomes heavier.I don't think there is an advantage for anyone unless it is Roddick playing and then the roof should stay open so his serve carves up his opponent. |

| I think the roof should be closed for the final. So if it is a Fed v Rafa clash, Fed will have the slight advantage as the ball doesn't appear to bounce as high - don't know why though. |

Fingers crossed for a Nadal - Federer final!
If this happens, can you imagine what will be going through Roger's mind?
You've lost against the same guy at Roland Garros for the last 4 years.
Then that guy beat you at Wimbledon, got the Olympic gold medal PLUS the #1 ranking.
Then there is an opportunity to draw level with Pete Sampras' record and who do you get to play in the final?
Its that spa.nish guy again!!!!
Vamos Rafa! |

Federer wil also bring his TENNIS GAME, where as Roddick will bring his serve and fanbase made entirely of teenage girls and yanks!
As I said last week, Roddick has the serve to excite fans, looks to excite girls and game to excite opponents.
He is the new Phillippoussis.
I also believe that if he performs a miracle tonight and has a win, he will finnish as runner up. |

It might also have something to do with playing indoors.
I don't know.
Since the second set of the quarterfinal vs Kuznetsova, it seems Serena is playing much better (though still not her best as yet) than at any other time during the Open.
Maybe playing indoors suits her more than outdoors.
What do others think? |

oohhh no oohhh no!
Elena's just gone down to Serena, 3-6,4-6,
I'm feel so bad for her.
I was hoping for Dementieva to win her first
Grand Slam title ever.
A twice runners up in 2004, she's certainly a deserved
champion (she's also a fabulous looking athlete of a woman!!!), but ohh that serve of hers. That may well be
preventing her of Grand Slam win.
I must give Serena lots of credit as she was playing
way below her best in the earlier rounds and also
in Sydney. But as so many of the great champions do, they still win and eventually improve by the business end of a Slam. It's Serena's year!!! |
