| Plus Elena has stood the test of time while at least two of her country women - Kournikova and Myskina (remember her?) - have fallen by the wayside. |

Zedhead, you know the more I think about it, I reckon I will - just once - choose (and hope) Elena Dementieva to take out the Australian Open. She's 27, a gutsy fighter, a loud grunter and oh so- attractive, but has never won a Grand Slam, and I would feel sorry for her if she failed to win at least one. Plus Ana Ivanovic is seven years younger with awesome potential to develop into a great all-surfaces champion.
I'm sure any one of the Grand Slams would be honoured to see Elena Dementiava's name on the trophy.
So it Elena for me!!!! |

I am feeling generous so I looked her details up on the website (you could have done this you naughty person)
She is 25... born in China... She has three titles
1 singles Hobart 2003
2 doubles
She beat Vaidislova!!! at semis at Wimblies 2008
She promised all her winnings to the people of Sichaun where the earthquake occurred and landslide then another earthquake. So I am glad she did well.
Hope she is playing this year she is good to watch like I said.. A name I forgot to mention in my thoughts for ladies doing well this year of course is Safina.. very strong reently... |

The problem is most of the ladies play the same brand of baseline tennis and grunt extremely LOUD. It's boring to watch it at present. Women's tennis is monotenous at present.
I'm hoping a new generation will surface including players that play more conventional games, such as one handed backhand, and are not afraid to advance to the net and put away the vollies. |

Agreed TLF. In these days it is no use putting all your egss in one basket. There are so many goo players around now and it is always good to see them come through.
Here's to a great fortnight of tennis.....win some loose some |

My dearest peen, aren't you forgetting it is customary for Ladies not to reveal their ages! hahahaha hahaha.
Zheng?! Never heard of. Is she/he left or right handed?
Yes Ana has slipped a bit but she will be back better than ever this year.
Jankovic is probably still fragile and nervy when she reaches a semifinal or final (such as last years U.S. Open).
I never post smut stuff except that is to that Zedhead and his cousins. |

Jankovic too but baby Ana has not done so well (during the last few months of 2008 anyway).
Is Zheng playing. Do you remember she defeated quite a few players last year and is pleasing to watch (tennis wise vince tennis wise).... no smut please... Lets have a smut free 2009 |

well since you left me
I started to look at other women again.
Hahahahaa
how are U dear Lady?
Have you been playing any tennis lately?
Peen, I think Elena has to be one of the favorites to win.
Be great to see her and Ana in the final.
Be even better if Ana decides to move down under. |

| I like Safina .If I can't pick a pretty one that's good I may as well choose from all the ugly ones left. Sharapova certainly adds some movie star appeal when she is playing ,a bit like Chrissie Evert years ago except with Chrissie it was class. There are certainly some cabbage heads at the top in women's tennis at the moment. |

And Ana says she loves Australia!!
Might even decide to move here. If she does her presence should give Australian Federation Cup team a champion team. |

Hey Zedhead , There's no Sharapova this year - much to our great disappointment -
So I've had a change of heart. It's Ana Ivanovic for me. Apart from the obvious reasons, she's such a fighter who doesn't act over the top unlike her two country men. I would love to see her take out the title. Who are you predicting now? |

Yes, I agree (and sorry I got his name wrong...it's early!!) I don't think he'll WIN the Open, but he will make his mark. That's why I'm backing him... I love a good outsider!
And he's still cute. |
